I have heard tieing back the steering levers but to me it seem like that would just allow moisture to reach the disks easier and allow them to swell more. I just try to run them once a month or so to heat them up to dry them out and scrub off any rust that has formed. Which reminds me, it's been 2 o...

Kurt, Welcome to the board. I agree with Nick that the steering clutch on that side is stuck and you stall it with the steering brake. Not uncommon with these old dry clutch's that sit for a while. The old girl must be sitting somewhere in the eastern U.P. Mine came out of the western U.P. My finals...

correct blade tension is quite important on a band mill. If everything is tracking propery , tension is correct and the blade is new then it shouldn't "dive". If it cuts straight and then starts to dive it usually means that you hit something that took the set out of one side of the blade - then it ...

John, What do you mean by "relieved return line and same results"? Did you let pressure off the return line and then were able to restart and then died down again? If so doesn't that imply that the return line is blocked? As I understand it if the return is blocked it backs up pressure in the pump s...

The 440 ICD should have the 5 speed transmission . The oil dipsrtic is on the top of the transmission front left corner. It is a knurled cap that you unscrew. It has a dipstic with level marks on it. The oil should look clear amber, not milky white(water contaminated). The final drives have plugs fo...

Kevin, In Michigan I believe the right hand rule applies if both landowners have livestock. If not the livestock owner has to maintain it for his use. I maintain a property that has 13 miles of perimeter fence. over the last 6 summers I have pretty much rebuilt 75% if it. 4 strand high tensile, I ha...

Just my opinion but there is nothing in those three pictures that says to me that that transmission was ever rebuilt. Why would anyone leave a worn out ground up input shaft in a transmission that they "rebuilt". It might be a good core but if they are billing it as rebuilt and put on the shelf ---b...

The first thing I thought when I saw "strong smell of amonia" the very first thing that came to my mind was mouse piss. I carry a fire extinguisher in the tractor at work for the inevitable electrical fire that will happen in the overhead counsol due to mouse piss. On these 80 degree days I wish it ...
