It is always hard to guess what some define a rebuild as. About a month ago I looked at a machine that was said to have been just rebuilt...with paperwork and receipts. Turns out it got a set of reman injectors and a rebuilt starter. It kinda depends what kind of money your in it for and risk your w...

Just want to confirm before I buy a winch....it is a complete set-up off of a 420, will it bolt to a 440?
Are the mounting brackets the same between 420 and 440?
Thanks!

You mentioned the fan belt was loose...tighten the belt when you add coolant or you really can't expect the water pump to do its job anyway. I wouldnt worry too much about any external leak and water pumps are cheap to rebuild if needed. If it runs, steers, and brakes and with a good undercarriage y...

The trans uses any 80-90wt and fills to the plug at your right heel when sitting on machine. The reverser uses hygard and fills via a bung on left side of reverser housing...I think it calls for an inch below the threads. There is an adjustment outlined in the manual that was simple enough but I can...

Never-sieze and torque to get the proper stretch. Also know that oil, greases, (never-sieze) will change torque values if you are being nit-picky or working on something precise or delicate threads like aluminum. Most torque values are assumed dry or sometimes given lubed like some head bolts...make...

Did you add just a pint and a half or so thinking it was the final? Did you run it and operate the levers? If added thinking it was the final and you have not ran and operated you may get lucky if the linings are not saturated. If you added enough oil to just fill what you thought were the finals I ...

Just found out it is a Holt winch...google turned up very little. Anybody know anything about them. Was told the controls on the fender need rebuilt and it should work, but again...we all know how that goes. It sounds similar to a gearmatic with a master cyl and 2 controls. I'm just afraid if it nee...

Thanks, will any winch swap out between 40, 420, 440, ? I know the 440 has heavier finals but are the mountings and dimensions the same? Is a 440 considered offset pto? What I am getting at is this; There is a 40 locally with a winch- will this bolt right to a late 440 (pto, brackets, mounts, and al...
