If I were going to weld fuel tank theses are the methods I would use : Steam clean out the inside throughly with detergent , make sure tank gets hot to touch for at least thirty min.. option A is then pipe car/truck exhaust into tank for at least thirty min.- tank must be hot to the touch - continue...

Also track has to be in tension in order to get an accurate measurement of internal wear - you are measuring the stretch created by wear so just lying on the floor won't do it.

percentage of wear charts refer to the amount of wear left , not the amount of wear - could this be the answer?

Pins and bushings are both turned together - If bushing is worn on side of the pad it has already been turned - if is nice and straight it has not been
Turning the pins and bushings does not take the sneakiness out of the tracks

The sprocket wear would indicate getting close to or at a pin and bushing service ( turn or change The rest does not appear that bad - links still show good heighth , and are flat . I have had one more thought on this and that is the latest oil for the new smog engines may not have all the necessary wear additives for older engines - but oil company's are suppose to have addressed this and snake oil additives are available

Lavoy sometimes those old engines would use so much oil people would start to putting cheap oil in them
Also back in the day oil for diesels were known by a different cat/name bit i can not remember what that is right now
