A web site called Pure Gas. org has stations listed by state which sell the non-ethanol fuel. I'm lucky to have 2 within 7miles. I run it in everything which doesn't have the computer smarts for 'all gas fuels'. Gets enough economy improvement to offset the gig in price.

I've never dealt with one of these pumps, but for automatic transmission seal installation, I've found Mylar sheeting from chip bags, balloons, etc. to be of great help. Cheap too!

Convention is for the metalized side to go against the part which expands & contracts more. So for a head gasket, metal toward the head; for an exhaust gasket metal toward the manifold.

I like to let an engine that has 'rested' a long spell sit with Marvel Mystery Oil in its cylinders a week or so (helps free piston rings). I also doubt P.O.s work, so I'm not above making a reference mark between distributor & block. & then moving the distributor a mite while a helper cranks. Is th...

A couple of tablespoons of motor oil in each cylinder won't go amiss either.

Cleaning the passages with anything metallic used to be majorly frowned upon, but with the advent of ethanol 'enhanced' fuel that caveat is pretty much out the window. As a case in point, Honda now has metal ended tools in their inventory to clean their off-road power equipment's carbs. I'm fortunat...

No sense getting too bent before draining the oil a bit to check for coolant being present, or the milkshake look of mixed oil & coolant. A failed/failing water pump seal could cause your diminished coolant/overheating condition. Blown head gaskets often leave a milky 'clouding' on the sparkplugs th...

Really sharp! Do you know the practice of using metal foil for masking unwieldy shapes like your wiring harness & hydraulic lines? Way easier than paper & tape. You've definitely got one to be proud of!

If Lavoy can't help, you might try carbrescue.com . The owner manufactures brass parts for obsolete carbureters.

I found this site listed on MyTractorForum (www.carbrescue.com/intro.html). The poster claimed the individual to be able to resurrect most older carburetors, including the Marvel-Schleber. I figure the flat bar on your coupler was probably intended to be a lube slinger, but then I'm not an engineer....

So...you bought the hoe & they threw in the crawler? It would have to have some terrible problems to not wind up as a steal!

I wonder if there might be enough water in the hydraulic fluid to block the suction screen? That should cause a similar racket to what you report. It would cause a cavitation issue as redneckracer opines as well. I'd try to warm the old girl up before getting too bent.

Actually, your 350 is considered the first of the late-model types on this board. The head-man, Lavoy, can probably move it, or delete it for you! Lotsa GOOD folks here, friendly & extremely knowledgeable!

Thanks Stan, for pointing out the obvious truth that resistances in series add up & drop current! I was just making a WAG as to the nature of the glow-plug section of the master switch. In one of my MANY mis-adventures, I had the functioning of the bi-metallic circuit breaker made known to me! It ma...

If it's backfiring (out the carb), then I'm with you, it's lean (or the intake valves are too tight & 125 psi compression puts the lie to that). The mixing chamber/emulsion tube lower holes being restricted (among other things) CAN cause such as this. There used to be glaring warnings against cleani...
