1959 440ICD

Lavoy, After a short hiatus, I have been reunited with the 440ICD I traded away a year ago. I had gotten frustrated with it as I kept throwing the tracks even after busting my butt on new clutches, bearings and seals in both Final Drives and putting on new JD 350 sprockets (re-rimmed to my old 440 c...

1959 440 ICD

Lavoy,
I need a set of rock Guards for the bottom rollers of my 440. I have located a pair on a 350 as well as another pair on a 1010. Will these fit on my machine?
Thanks for all you do on this site.

Lavoy,
Hmmmm difficult choice...pull the final or back off on the brake adjusting nut...guess which one I'm going to do.
Ironically it was this same brake adjusting nut on the brake band that was broken and got me into this project initially!

Thank you for the advise. It is appreciated

3 pt hitch for '59 440 ICD

Looking for advise on how much is involved in fitting a 3pt hitch, for sale locally, to my 440. I've seen some pictures and the back end looks like a plate of spaghetti with all the hoses etc. Is my unit set up for this accessory? What else may I need? I want to put some weight back there and a 3pt ...

1959 440ICD Chains and pads

Once again I thank you Lavoy for your comprehensive response to my situation on the issue of 350 chains fitting my 440. Your response leads me to ask, will his 350 sprockets bolt on to the 440? If not where do I go next to inquire about re-rimming my sprockets with the 350 rim? I will be calling you...

1959 440 Chains and Pads

Thankyou Lavoy for answering my question on the hollow pins in the Final drive and Drawbar unit....just like you said...I pried the housing apart with a chisel and it came out fine. One more question if I might, I have a chance to pick up a used set of chains and street pads for my 440 from a 350......

1959 440 ICD Final Drive Removal
