Re: Need advice on dealing with asshats

Parts came today, order was complete and the right parts. what a ordeal. I can promise I will not use that supplier again.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I will know what to do next time this happens.

Re: Need advice on dealing with asshats

And the bs continues. Called yesterday to cancel the order, they promised they would ship it next day air. I would have it today. Almost 7 o'clock, still waiting. Should I leave the light on for them?

Re: Need advice on dealing with asshats

I send a email telling them if they can't ship by Tuesday to cancel the order. Think now I will call them first thing on Monday and cancel it immediately. I worked for 16 years as a receiving clerk, so I know that "I have to call manufacturer" is bull. We always had a due date when we ordered someth...

Re: Need advice on dealing with asshats

Thanks for the tips guys. I think eight days and they haven't shipped yet, can't even tell me when, that is excessive. If they can't fill the order in a timely manner they should say so. Meanwhile I can't get anything else in the shop until I get the trailer back together. Can't move equipment until...

Need advice on dealing with asshats

Have to put brakes on my equipment trailer. Got it in the shop and tore the brakes down. Then I order the parts from a online supplier. That was on the 10th, got a email conformation but never got a notice that parts were shipped. So yesterday the 18th I call asking status of the order. They can't t...

Re: Moved Into Our Tiny House

The pitch build up slows down your feed rate, affects the sawing quality and causes the blade to run hot. Try using a blade lube, I'm sure you will be happy with the result. I agree a lot wasted wood by leaving the small logs in the woods, but there is a reason big mills don't want them. It just cos...

Re: Moved Into Our Tiny House

Another thing, almost forgot about. Cleaning and lubing the blade. My mill had gravity feed system, they recommended using water and dish soap. It never worked right and I took it off. I use a spray bottle with bar oil and kerosene or diesel mixed 50/50. Spray it on both sides of the blade occasiona...

Re: Moved Into Our Tiny House

I am with you Cuttingedge. Saw from the small end, with my mill I can raise the log to compensate for taper. You want to end up sawing parallel to the heart because the center of the log has poorest quality wood, you want to keep that low grade lumber in as few boards as possible. By turning 180 aft...

Re: Moved Into Our Tiny House

I have a Woodmizer all hydraulic, only way to go IMO, turning logs by hand is hard on the back, especially when you work by yourself. Don't do portable anymore. Liability insurance got to be to much, and it is easier working at home where I am under roof and have a forklift. So now when somebody has...

Re: Moved Into Our Tiny House

Remodeling a house is a true test of a marriage, if a relationship can survive that it can survive anything. My parents took 16 years to redo their house. mainly because of my mother. when she said "we are going to do this or that" it meant we did the work and she told us how we were doing it wrong....

Re: City people, gotta love them, or laugh at them

Actually we are headed out again next week. Driving to Colorado to see my brother, then Utah to Arches and Zion. then down the Grand Canyon where our daughter is a park ranger. then Cottonwood to visit friends. Taos then home. Be gone 4 weeks. Bad time to leave the business for a month, but we figur...

Re: City people, gotta love them, or laugh at them

In the interest on full disclosure I admit to being clueless tourist myself. last fall wife and I took a cross country road trip. We tried to stay off the interstate as much as possible. We ended up going through the Sand Hills of northern Nebraska. This is cattle country, open grassland with ranche...

Re: Are all women crazy, or is it just mine?

Well the party is history, could not have gone better except our son, and his wife and the granddaughter were not able to make it. Everything cleaned up and she is back to her normal serene self. Until Thanksgiving dinner. Had a couple of photos I wanted to post but can't figure out how. Could use s...

Are all women crazy, or is it just mine?

This summer is our 30th. Few months ago the wife decided we should throw ourselves a party. Despite the feeling of cold dread I felt I did not say anything, after all I'm just her husband, I know my place. So today is the big day and I have a few minutes of calm this morning before the last minute f...

I really like the idea of cutting it with an axe. Now I'm hoping the guy comes back so I can do that. If it winds up to short we can always use the board stretcher on it.
