Ok, I've got both side completely apart down to the rear differential. I'm replaceing the seals in the left and right quills, but I've got a question. Which way do the seals go in? The service manual says "If oil seal in quill is worn or damaged, install a new one with lip to inside of quill." The o...

Well, lets see if I can remember everything I needed.
(Just about everything under and including the right cover)
brake cylinder
brake bands
right cover (brake side)
hydraulic lever

You can PM me with what you have and how much you want for it.

Thanks.

Lavoy, Do you know if a pinion gear from a 350 would fit? There's one on &pay that has 13 teeth.

Lavoy, I've got the left final apart, and the bull gear and axle have considerable backlash where they meet. Also, the pinion gear on that side has a chipped tooth as well. Have you or anyone else got any 13 tooth pinion gears, and the 56 tooth bull gear and/or axles. I know, it's a tall order but I...

I've got a gearmatic winch that came off of a 440 and it also is incomplete. I was going to rebuild it, but have been working on the finals instead. I'd be willing to sell off any parts you need if I have them. Shoot me a list of what you need and I'll tell you what I've got.

Lavoy, Don't suppose there were a few other parts with that gear... Since I'm replacing the friction discs, I figured I'd get into the left final as well. Got the track and the cap that covers the pinion gear off, and noticed quite a bit of slack in the the bullgear and akxe shaft area. Haven't got ...

PM me a price, and if I can afford it, I'll take it.
Thanks!

Also, got a question....
What is the function of the three balls behind the throw out bear assembly?

Lavoy, The Bull gear looks fine, just the Pinion is messed up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but can I change out the pinion gear with the final installed? If so, I could try cleaning up the one I have until another can be located. Another thought, can I change the drive shaft and the pinion so a 14 toot...

440IC Final Woes...

After playing on the crawler for days on end, I noticed I had no power on the right side. Everytime I pulled the left steering arm the machine would barely turn. SO, I removed the plug, and sure enough my clutch and brake band was soaked with oil. Hauled her home and took her apart. (first time mind...

I found these adjustable wrenches at an estate sale, and they work pretty good. The handles are even made to take a cheater bar.
They are made by Diamond Calk and Horseshoe Co.
Good luck!

Once again, Lavoy was correct!
I kept pressure on the hub while I heated it with the rosebud, and before I knew it, it had slid off a little bit. I ended up spending the better part of the day getting the whole thing apart, but I still have all of my fingers and I didn't burn down my house.
Thanks!

I've got a rosebud tip (I knew I'd need one one day!), do I need to get the hub orange hot?

This may all be a moot point if I can't get that clutch casting off of the splined shaft! Right now I've got 10 tons pulling up on those two bolts in the picture while pushing down on the center main shaft, and she is even thinking about moving. I've soaked it in Tri-flow, PB Blaster, and heated it ...

Ok, so I'm grasping at straw here.... Lavoy, I can fabricate a cover since I cannot seem to find one, the slave cylinders I will need, so could you PM me a price on those? As for the clutch band, I found a place that listed that they had them, but when I called him he checked and said all he had was...

Lavoy, do you have the parts I've indicated on your photograph? http://www.jdcrawlers.com/uploads/drawing1.jpg Do you know if anyone has ever tried to retrofit some 10" electric trailer brakes to the inside of this in place of the clutch band and hydraulics? I found another winch that is complete. F...
