I used a long socket extension and my stubborn nature to get mine off. Wasn't easy but I did it.

I got a good tip one day from a diesel mechanic friend.
Take your lighter to the dipstick after removing it. If it sizzles, you've got coolant in the oil. If it catches fire, you've got diesel in there.

Yes, that's what was happening to me. Was solved by the new cap. It's a different world when there is no expansion tank to catch the overflow.

For anyone that is interested I was able to buy a new cap from Federated Auto parts off the shelf for less than $5. It has made a huge difference in cooling.

350 Radiator cap.

I need a new rad cap for my 350. A new from Deere is 39.00 which seems ridiculous even for Deere. Does anyone know if an aftermarket off the shelf cap will work for this radiator?

I have pulled my 350 around town with my F-250 Superduty knowing full well that I was taking my life in my hands AND risking serious fines from the DOT boys. I don't recommend it.

I had a problem with ed too. He sold me a muffler for my 350 that he had manufactured to be a replacement for the original. It didn't fit and although he offered to take it back. He would not reply to my earnest emails and phone calls. I thought that he would be interested in what I had to say havin...

Bob, I just had my radiator out for a repair. It's not too hard, but you have to be careful not to do damage to the radiator when lifting the cowling off (and putting it back on). I used a chainfall hooked over a beam in my barn to lift the cowling off after unbolting. By using the chainfall you hav...

Definitely not brain dead, you've got it right on. There is a bearing on the rotary fitting that your talking about that has a race on either side of it. One of the races was missing. I don't think that the brake piston is leaking, I had it on free-spool with the cover off The only oil apparent was ...

Thanks once again. The rotary cylinder is what is leaking. I've ordered all new packing, o-rings and seals for that. Do you mean the brake cylinder when you saw free-spool cylinder? I'm not sure what that is. If so, doesn't look like it is leaking. There was a bearing race, a washer and back up ring...

OK, Parts are on the way to fix this thing. I have what I think is one last question. When looking at the manual, It says that when replacing the vee-packing that the lips should face toward the bottom of the bore. Can someone tell me what this means so that I don't pit it in the wrong way? Thanks a...

Looks like it has the replacement piston assembly, and that it is the leaky culprit.
So, I have it all apart and cleaned up -now just need to locate the seals, etc. to put it back together.
Thanks for the help.

update

OK, So I found the tag on the winch and it is indeed a 3315 winch.
Serial number is 016709T.
It looks very different on the inside than what I see on the EPC and in the service manual.
Should I disregard the looks and go with the looks?

Another Question 350 Winch

OK, Trying to go through the crawler while I have it in the shop, so here goes another question... My winch has been slipping in the hold position. I got ready to take it apart, and although it looks like a 3315 winch, the housing is different -for one, no port for adjusting the brake band. So I tak...
