Gary,

I wasn't to happy about the price either but I didn't figure I'd be able to find one anywhere close by.

I hope you have good luck finding one.

Gary, at some point I'll probably get rid of that seat frame...although shipping across country would hurt... I live in Bradley now, but I grew up in Millinocket. Waaaaay up state from Mexico. What did you do when you were here? I shipped the same seat frame (minus cushions) from Pennsylvania to Ar...

Michael,

Thanks for the lead. I'll call them today and see what they've got. Needless to say I'm keepingmy fingers crossed

Between you and Lavoy the death of my crawler might be premature.

Thanks,

Cracked block2-53

Well the initial report from the machine shop after finally getting one of the liners pressed out is that the block might be cracked   If this is indeed the case, any chance one of you might have a spare block available? As it is I'm almost afraid to think what one is going to cost. Not e...

Lavoy, I tend to agree with you on information from old manuals when it comes to oil specs. What I found interesting was the mention of straight 30 weight oil and the reference to what happens if you use diesel with to high a sulfer content. However something all of us with crawlers that have the 2-...

Series 53 oil specifications

Below is some info I pulled out of my 53 Series Detroit Diesel service manual. It appears that straight 30 weight oil is what they recommend. You'll need to do some research on the MIL-L-2104B spec says to figure what it all means. Please excuse any typos, I didn't really proof read what I typed. Br...

All the gears in this transmission looked nice, but unfortunately, the case itself was bad. One of the front studs had rusted so badly, that there were no threads in one hole in the front of the case. It seems like a shame to have to replace it, but there are only 4 bolts that hold the trans to the...

Looks great Lavoy!

I assume from the color that you've put some kind of yellow based primer on them? If so what kind?

This is site is defintely a great resoure for jd crawler owners. Lavoy does a fine job of administering it. I completely took the injector lines off of the pump and kept watching for any fluid at all coming out of the injector outlet ports. I was surprised at how long it took and so was the gentlema...

It wasn't actually 5 days of cranking. I was on vacation during that time and I'd try every few hours. Didn't see any real change in the flow (meaning none or almost none) from the pump outlet ports until the 5th day. Even then I had to crank many many times to get it to finally fire. Pressurizing t...

Rick, While not exactly the same situation, when I rebuilt my case backhoe and installed a freshly rebuilt injector pump it literally took 5 days for fuel to make it from the inlet of the pump and out the outlet ports while cranking the engine over. The first couple of days NOTHING came out of the o...
