Here are some pictures of how the crawler looks right now. Lots of pieces but overall in reasonably good condition. Asking price is $2500. http://campkahler.com/files/PC110562.JPG http://campkahler.com/files/PC110563.JPG http://campkahler.com/files/PC110564.JPG http://campkahler.com/files/PC110565.J...

For Sale: Late model 1960 440 ICD Crawler - (Some assembly r

I picked up this crawler about 4 years ago. The previous owner had recently done a lot of track work to it and when he got it back it had water in the oil. He drained the fluids and then parked it. I bought it in the hopes of rebuilding it and using it around our property to clear land, roads, etc. ...

Wow! I'm glad this thread didn't start until after I got done with our move from Arkansas to Kentucky, I would have been nervous on every trip! Its sounds like I could have had to deal with a lot more issues than I did from what I've read here today. I made the final trip this past weekend. Overall ...

Keith,

One other item I need is the governor guard/cover. There are two different covers, early & late. I need the later style as mine is a later serial number machine.

Thanks!

Re: 440 ICD Parts

I recently picked up a 440 with a 2-53 Detroit diesel that I am taking the undercarriage from to put on my 420 and do not need the rest. The engine runs, machine is basically complete and has decent tin, but the transmission is broken in half. It is a crawler loader with the model 831 loader. Let m...

My 440ICD didn't have the cup when I got it and I searched for several years. I finally found one on eBay that was partially rusted through. I gave it to a friend of mine to fix and he ended up finding a sauce pan at a Goodwill store that just fit so he cut the upper half off and then epoxied it to ...

I think this list might be reasonably accurate. I've used all of them but the ATF-Acetone mix and would more or less agree on their degree of penetration. Supposedly the original article in Machinest Workshop they describe how the tests were performed. I haven't found the article so can't give any d...

Penetrating fluids

This came from another forum that I'm a member of. Might have to give the last one a try. The April/May 2007 edition of Machinist's Workshop did a test of penetrating oils where they measured the force required to loosen rusty test devices. The lower the number of pounds the better. Mighty interesti...

Randy, you're not alone in looking for ways to help remember a lost parent, I find myself doing similar things.

Congrats on the new tractor!

Dave, When I got my ICD crawler it was missing the cup as well. It took me over two years to find a replacement unit on ebay and then it turned out the bottom was rusted out. Some creative repair took care of that. The 440ICD cup is different than all the other crawler models so hopefully Lavoy will...

I have a late model 440ICD and mine had the short breather tube. Also I did manage to find the serial number but at the moment can't remember where I found it. Seems like it was in one of the top corners. I vaguely recall mine having the inspection hole but I can't seem to locate a picture that show...

Dave, glad the CD finally made it to you. I wonder why it takes so long to get mail between the US and Canada?

Have you posted any pictures of your crawler? Also, what is its serial number?

Re: NEED A CYLINDER HEAD DETROIT 2-53

I tore my engine a part and took my head to our local machine shop only to find out my head was cracked. I have not had any luck at locating one, any assitance would be appreciated. THANKS, JIM Jim, Cylinder heads can be welded. Our little 2 cylinder Ford 1700 diesel tractor had a cracked head and ...

I would imagine that by the time I actually have my crawler back together you'll have the battery boxes done!

Keep me posted on their availability.

Also, received your package yesterday. Much appreciated.
