Re: TSX-756 Choke Valve Position

Thanks Lavoy, that makes sense.

Should the flap be positioned above the choke shaft or below it?

TSX-756 Choke Valve Position

I have a question about a 440ic carburetor that I hope someone can answer: Should the pressure relief valve be positioned in the upper or lower half of the choke valve? While rebuilding my tsx756 carburetor, I removed both the throttle and choke valve plates before reading SM-2024, where it recommen...

Re: Bleeding Air From a 440ic Hydraulic System

Thanks for your help guys.

Putting the two controllers/valves in series and adjusting the relief valves as Jim mentioned looks like a good solution if I can't locate the parts that will allow me to use my existing Gresen valve.

Re: Bleeding Air From a 440ic Hydraulic System

Lavoy mentioned that I would need to add a power beyond adapter to my two-spool Gresen valve in order to have this feature. Does anyone happen to have one of these? I'm also looking for a dual hydraulic lever set-up (handles, shafts, rods, etc.) for my 440 to upgrade from the single lever set-up tha...

Re: Bleeding Air From a 440ic Hydraulic System

Jim B, Thanks for pointing that out, I did use the power beyond port for the supply on my 2040 and a T-fitting for the return. I'm looking at the cut-away view of the 440 control valve on page180-15-4 of my service manual (SM-2023), and it shows a power beyond outlet. When I look at my controller th...

Re: Bleeding Air From a 440ic Hydraulic System

dtoots1, Thanks for the reply. Upon further investigation I found out that my problem isn't air in the lines. When I reconnect the fittings to only one controller at a time and isolate the circuits then both the front blade works, as before, and the ripper works as well. But when the circuits share ...

Bleeding Air From a 440ic Hydraulic System

Hi, Is there a way to bleed the hydraulic system on a 440ic? I just put on a new hydraulic controller along with two new cylinders, lines, etc. for the rippers on my crawler. I filled up the reservoir and started it up but the cylinders on the front dozer blade and the rippers only move about 1/4 of...

Re: 440ic Hydraulic Pump

Thanks Lavoy

Yes, the pump is mounted to the crankshaft in front of the engine. Are there any markings on the pump that would help determine which options it has?

Also, is there a service manual and an IPL that covers this pump?

440ic Hydraulic Pump

Hi, I have a 440ic with a 602 dozer blade and a detachable Henry backhoe and it appears to have an OEM hydraulic pump. Did Deere offer standard pump size upgrades for the 440? The service manual says the stock pump is 8 gpm but the backhoe specs require a 15 to 20 gpm flowrate and the backhoe works ...

Re: 440 Roller Replacement

Lavoy,
Thanks for the heads-up. The set screw and jam nut were sheared off and rusted over long ago on the roller that I'm replacing. My luck that the other four rollers on this same side all have their set screws and nuts. Oh well, I guess it's time to start removing the inside rock guard.

Re: 440 Roller Replacement

Thanks Lavoy. It's interesting that the service manual says that you only need to remove the outer rock guard... I snapped off more than half of the bolts while removing the outer rock guard and had to re-tap them. And that is the easy one to get to. I'm going to try to take the two large axle bolts...

440 Roller Replacement

Is there any trick to removing the rollers? I removed the outer rock guard and the four bolts on the roller but there isn't enough play to drop the roller. Do I need to disassemble it in place?
Thanks, Roger

Re: 440ic Frozen Engine

Well I took the sparkplugs out and found a little of water (about a couple of tablespoons) in each cylinder that I was able to remove by pushing a rag down onto the pistons a few times. Once the cylinders were dry I put about a cup of Kroil into each cylinder and then let it set for a couple of days...
