440 Winch
I have a late 440 icd. It has part of a gearmatic winch on it, but not complete. I would like to have a working winch but don't want to spend more than the dozer is worth to have one. Any suggestions? It is hard to believe just how much this little dozer will pull. But winch would definately be handy.

I changed all the filters and fluids but still had miss at idle with lots of smoke out of exhaust. But noticed when you gave it throttle it momentarily smoothed out and smoke whent away. So I says HMMMM. I figured the injector might be sticking. I removed the valve cover and cracked the line going t...

need steering clutch piece
I seem to have lost in the shuffle 1 seat that the balls ride in in the throwout bearing hub assembly on my 440 which was scattered across three counties for a couple weeks. I can order a new one for the low low price of only $35. Seems a bit much but if nobody can help me I will bite the bullet and...

question for lavoy?
I recieved the clutch finger height tool and adjusted my finger height according to the diagram. The fingers were really out if I adjusted them correctly. If you have the tool across the clutch drum, the contact area for the throw out bearing should just touch the recessed area on the tool right nex...

440 steering clutch finger height??
Am putting dozer back together this weekend and was wondering what the finger height should be on a used pressure plate. one of the fingers is just a little higher than the others on one pressure plate. The jd manual doesn't give a spec that I have found. I know there is a guage but I don't have one...

My local JD industrial dealer wont give any break on parts prices just full list. I deal enough with NAPA and get at least Wholesale on them. You are right though even at my discount a couple of the bearings are a little cheaper at Deere. At today's prices on anything it pays to shop around cause eve...

early 440 5 speed tranny bearings
I have an early 5 speed trans. Does any one have a list of timken bearing #s for all the bearings in the trans? They don't seem to be too badly priced from deere, but I can get a good discount from NAPA. I can read most of the numbers but not all. When I get a complete list I will post it if anyone ...

Took top cover off and can see front bearing gone from rear transmission output shaft which is also pinion gear. are these tough to get apart? are bearings hard to get? should I blow the thing...
