1959 JD 440IC

Heard a rumor that the gas 2 cylinders have replacable cylinder liners, does anyone know if this is true?

Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but I'm new to old JD engine rebuilding.

Thanks

Does anyone know of a site or have the info on block casting numbers for 2 cylinder, gas engines from 1950 thru 1960?

!959 block casting numbers

Just wondering if a block casting number of DM04-T 2 cylinder gas out of an early 50's crawler would be the same as a '59 casting of T10474T? Or if it would at least work in it's place and bolt up the same?

Thanks

Last fall I ran my 420 for a few hours and parked it, it ran fine. A few weeks later I was going to change the oil and when I drained it, the...

Looks good having the snow flying like that. Still over a foot of snow here and getting -20 C at night.

Thanks Digitup, that's a bit far for me to venture. Do you have his phone number? I could get things possibly shipped then. I actually found an "old farmer" that has quite a stash of 420 and 440 parts in my area. The winch I believe is a #8A Gearmatic Winchdrum.

Thanks for your input Chuck. Going to need some engine parts as the last owner decided to half dismantle it for no apparent reason then leave it like that for 3 years. Now the fun begins.
