Backhoe attachment hydraulics
Hi All, I have a hoe attachment I think is a 92 or 95 on my 450 loader. I wanted to change the quick connects on the hydralic lines, and made the dumb mistake of mixing the lines up. I know which is supply and return on the tractor, but how do I figure out which goes where on the hoe? If I ho...

Hi All, I just changed all the rollers in my straight 450 loader. I jacked it up and took off both inside and outside guards. I tried with just the outside off , and it would'nt make it. Soak all bolts with pb blaster or Kroil. Don't heat the bolts, I tried it and the bolt heads break off! Luckily I...

Gaskets, Silicone,or ?
Hi All,
What do you guys use for sealing steering clutch housing covers? I was thinking of using RTV silicone, but was also thinking of maybe anerobic gasket maker.(red jelly type) Also, should there be any sealant between final drive and clutch housing? Thanks for your input. Brian

JD450 Steering clutch T.O. bearing fork removal
Hi All, I'm doing a steering clutch job on my 450 loader. Since I'm in there I want to replace the ring gear quill seals. I'm trying to remove the throw out fork and shaft. I removed the set screw but can't seem to move the fork on the shaft. Any ideas? I've been soaking it with penetrating oil, thi...

I'm in the middle of the same job. Easy work, just BIG-N-HEAVY! I got a great tip from a fellow crawler lover, Before pulling drum shafts, remove set screw on brake drum and replace with a piece of 3/8" threaded rod, use a couple of washers and a nut. Run the nut down just to take a little weight. D...

Hi All, I got it! Soaking overnite, then many well placed hits with the sledge(block of hard wood inbetween) and it came right off. Thats the good news, The bad news is the final is SHOT! Turns out my steering drive axle is not stripped like I thought. I think everything got bound up and kille...

450 problems
Hi All, First, Thanks for the leads on the final. I got the track off and all the bolts out, but that darned sprocket won't budge. I'm soaking it with pb blaster. Is there any tricks here, can I heat around the sprocket & axle then whack it? Don't want to damage sprocket. I can't believe how loose t...
