Great summary and useful info. I need to switch brands of additive. These tests were run with ULSD which had not been treated to go into fuel tanks at the service stations, though, correct? Was there any data on how the commercially treated stuff that goes into the retail tanks did on the test?

I'm a fairly new owner of a 450C myself and when I went through the process of draining and prodding and replacing stuff to get it ready to work the way I'd like it to, I learned a few things that might have some bearing on your issues. First I'm sure you are aware that drive on that machine is hydr...

Floating the blade

I have a 450C with a 6 way blade and am now in the process of cleaning up some woods roads of bumps and small brush. It seemed like a good idea to use the blade in the float position but I find when I try that the blade still digs in too much , presumably just from the weight of it -it isn't being f...

Manuals are still available from the dealer or places like Jennsales. If you go with the manual from a dealer, you can get a CD or a printed copy. I got the CD but think a printed copy would be easier to work with.

I broke down and ordered a couple through the dealer. Cost something like $27 each for those little things , but having the hood secured right was worth it.

Mike, I'm a recent new owner of a 450C also and went through the same thing I think you are about to do. Some of the posts on my experiences might be of some use to you because I got a lot of advice from the old hands on the site. I found it was a very good idea to drain all the fluids unless you kn...

Hey, thanks for that tip on the turbo. I had not even considered that possibility. Will definitely make some sort of cover to protect the turbo [I assume it's still working]. It also gets pretty windy out here sometimes for days at a time. I'm surrounded by open fields which doesn't break the wind s...

OK, let me finish up this saga and get on to new subjects... Found the button head grease fittings in NAPA ['Giant button heads with 3/8 pipe thread] as digitup2 suggested. Put on 12 of em -all the rollers and the idlers. Filled the bucket greaser with the 00 grease and proceded to try to give all a...

Thanks for the feedback. I'll get to NAPA tomorrow and see if they have any of the button fittings. It would be great if they would work with the head on the grease gun I use for the old Cat buttons. I see some drippings around the rollers where I tried to put in some oil a couple days ago so it's g...

Lots of good info from you all, as usual. First, the reference to using 30Wt oil came from the owners manual [page 47] and the service manual. The specific material they refer to is TorQ Gard Supreme 30 wt oil "or equivalent" . Take out the center plug and fill level plug, inject oil until it comes ...

Roller plugs 450C

I'm finding more and more information about my new toy from the service and operator manuals that conflicts with what the previous owner told me. The latest is that the plugs in the center of the bottom rollers should be removed and a zerk fitting put in to shoot grease into the roller. Since I find...

450C Track Adjuster

The right track adjuster of my 450C crawler was/is frozen at a spot that left the track too loose. All the messing with the grease chamber trying to compress or expand it made no impression so I decided I needed to replace it and am looking at the various parts options I've had input from you all on...

Joel, did you ever find any hood latches? I find I also need a couple and I'm not having much luck, other than the dealer.

About Parts

Lavoy, I'm a little confused about the parts section of this site. You have a listing of many items but as I read some of the other threads , I get the impression that those are not the only items offered. Apparently you make things like rock guards and come up with rollers and other things. Most of...
