Re: new member intro, 450C in northern MS

I love mine, getting a chance to clear some areas behind my pond now. Th owners manual will give you the basics on them. Operating tips, basic service. I do not have a winch on mine. They may have had more than one set up for winches. Maybe some direct drive winches or hydraulic winch. Either way yo...

Even more life for the 450C..I hope.

I replaced all the bottom rollers & all new bolts, "both rock guards and rollers" this winter myself. I discovered I had a leaking track adjuster seal on the left side. I did not feel like doing the repair myself so had the dealer come out and do it right. In the process We found that a link could b...

Quick Question on 450C clutch housings

I guess I feel lazy.. I want to check the oil level in the clutch housings on my 1979 450C dozer... I know where the fill and drain plugs are.. are they full if the oil is at the top of the fill plug? Can you over fill them?... Some had common sump I have heard. Tranny and clutches? are the finals i...

To remove and install the rollers, I jacked it up with blade and jacks, blocked it up real good and let track tension out. Took off rock guards and dropped the rollers. All the bolts..every last one..came out with no issues at all with my 1/2" 650 ft lb impact. A couple guard bolts I had to use a 3/...

My recent purchase getting life extended-I hope

Bought this very good running 450C this fall, U-C not great, but starts cold very well, no cracks, welds, major leaks, clutches are lively, brakes good. blade is fairly tight for a 79, meter says 4800 hrs. was well maintained. I had JD dealer out to give me a free U-C assessment. Bottom rollers were...

'53 40C rescues a Case track loader

Some dozing and a snatch block did the job to get this heavy litle track loader out... and it was buried!

40C saves "Stuck In The Muck" Case....

A freind buried his case track loader. He asked if I could help....After two hours of rigging, dozing and hard pulling I got him out with the 40C. Those little track loaders are no good in deep mud, too heavy and no grousers. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2007-9/1279225/IM003691.jpg http://img.vill...

Read the posts. That Chimney had more to it than meets the eye. I am well aware of the dangers of various structures.

Oh beleve me, I was very careful, I was at a pretty good angle to it, and if you look close you can see that the hearth/base in the rear is very wide and goes all the way to the basement floor.I pushed very easily on the corner, no jerking or ramming. It slid right across about three feet and then o...

I think the 40C would win that one. Its amazing what that machine will do. That big stump was removed with it. We dug around it with a little backhoe and then sawed under it with a chain between the Ford Jubilee and the 40. After that I dozed around the stump and built up a pile of dirt on one side ...

Our '53 Three Roller 40C

My dad rebuilt this 40C a couple years ago now. When we brought it home we found that just about everything needed repair/replace or rebuild. He also blasted and painted it in the old farm shop with a home made blast booth. Not bad for 81 years old! We use it around here quite often and its a great l...
