No DSL or cable here, either.

Hi, I had the same issue. There's no cable or DSL here on our farm There is a phone company microswitch two miles from the house that would give us plenty of DSL signal. Unfortunately, we're on the boundary line for area codes 919 and 910. Guess what? Yep. The close DSL feed is A/C 910 and we're fed...

Hi, I switched to AC's in all my 2-cyls long ago. The Champions would work OK for while, and then decide to misfire or worse, slow fire which leads to a loss of power without the obvious miss..... Yet, those pulled Champions would work fine in other-than-2 cyl-JD engines. I never did come up with a ...

Hi, That might be it! Yes, I can see it now: A TV weatherman and a store manager whispering in the back corner where the dairy case wall meets up with the back wall of the store! Maybe it started in the days when the milk came from a local dairy and the bread from a local bakery and all four were in...

Hi, Oh! Now I get it. The ones worth all the money are what I always called the 'old' lights. That'd be referenced to the 'new' lights which is what's on the old girl. This is why I was so surprised, as I never thought of the 'new' lights as being anything special. I always thought of the old lights...

Hi,

Oh. I see now. More of a hyd-assisted blade as opposed to a PAT. Yes, that ought to work OK as you're only substituting hyd power for your poor back! The pins and wedges will still be taking the loads as designed.

Hi, I like it! Pretty good idea there. I always had a crawler/dozer and a wheel tractor/loader so I never ran into the problem. I just switch machines as necessary. As far as a hyd blower goes, here's another swiped idea. JD used to put a PTO mounted hyd pump on their 440's equipped with a backhoe a...

Hi, I use a wheel tractor for most mowing, except for old pastures that have sat so long they're sprouting small trees. When that happens, I use the crawler and a trailing brush hog. I set the blade about 6" high. What is too big pushes out of the ground. What isn't bends under the blade to be whack...

Hi, Wow. And I mean WOW! I ought to sell the lamps off my 420c in this case! They're still original and still work. Even the oddball rear one with the hole in the reflector plating on the inside of the thing and the ruby coating on the outside. For those that don't follow that, there's a small 6v bu...

Hi,

In my book, a fully functional original machine is worth the most money.

This means one onto which new paint has not been applied. ;)

But, then I may well be biased. I just described my own 420c! :P

Hi, Well, I've found a few so far - all overpriced from your POV as they're in *too* good a shape! :p Spring is in the air here, and I notice a lot more cars and trucks along the roadsides lately. It's just a matter of time. I expect to find one by Summer, which will work out well as then we can get...

Hi, I'll keep my eyes peeled. Lots of odd stuff showing up for sale around here these days. Probably due to the economy. I know of one REO Speedwagon around, but the farmer still uses it. It's a midships mount pump fire truck and he uses it to haul water around his farm. That's pretty cool. I wish *...

Hi,

Base machine is an MC. I can't place the engine at all.

Oh, the things that happen to machines over the decades, eh?

Happy and Merry!

Hi, One of my good friends has a Clark-made Bobcat with a V4 air cooled Wisconsin in it. About six weeks ago, he had his distributor go bad. I happen to have a couple apple crates full of various baler engine bits and so had a spare that fit. :) There were lots of things that used Kohler and Wiscons...

Hi, Yeah! I'll come up there and bring the skiddy along for some real snowplowing testing! :) It's still running. Starts right up each time he tries it. Unlike that little issue you were having with the stuck plungers in the pump. ;) We must have done something right, which is good news. Sure are co...
