I can't seem to get the screen out of the tank. The plastic slot is stripped off. Do you think if I push it in it will come out inside the tank? I cant tell if there is enough clearence between the bottom of the tank and the intake tube. The tube curves down towards the bottom of the tank. I may end...

Thanks I will check the screen and replace the filter. I thought since I was geting fuel at the injector pump inlet and at the filter bleeder that it must be further down the line. But, maybe I am just not getting enough fuel. It seems like it was not too long ago that I changed the fuel filter, but...

455 E not getting fuel

Wife and daughter are out of town and I had plans of pushing trees, moving dirt and maybe some saw milling. The perfect weekend! But, the loader and the farm tractor are now down. I was pushing a tree on a down hill slope and the track loader stalled. I tried to restart but it sputtered. I figured i...

Well I finally got a hold of a roller wear chart for a 455 E. A Medtrack guy was nice enough to fax it for me. I measured my rollers according to a link that tiger haze sent. I measured from the top of the pad up to the center of the roller pin and then I subtracted the height of the rail and then m...

roller wear

A link that tiger haze was nice enough to give concerning roller wear showed how to measure the diameter of the rollers wear surface. I am confused as to why this is important. I thought it was the snaking of the chain through too wide of a roller that caused too much wear? I can’t see how the heigh...

I may be replacing some rollers soon as well. If you jack it up and then loosen the chain as much as possible can you get enough sag to get the rollers off without taking the gaurds off.

Someone told me that I could just replace the filter on the hydraulics if it looks clean, but I should replace the engine oil. Any thoughts? What about the transmission final drives and stearing clutches??

dry verses lubed chains

Is the only difference the noise level or does one last longer? If it is just the noise level I think maybe I should save the money and go with the dry for a Farm loader.

Thanks Dave

Well I got a second opinion on my undercarriage today by heavy Quip. He said I should be able to use my pads. They are worn some but the welded on tread is a good job and just as high as the original would be. Tigerhaze, what do you mean by worn down to the bolt heads? Do you mean when the tread is ...

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will compare the price of a new track to the chains. I had a price quote of $400 to have the old pads put on the new chains. I guess that would be an option. I will just be using it around the house on the weekends it is hard for me to imagine that I would wear the ...

Fluid change on 455E

Looks like the manual recommends SAE 30 in the engine, transmission, final drives, steering clutches, and hydraulics. The same oil everywhere should make it easier. Should I buy JD oil or look for SAE 30 meeting their specs (CD/SC (Mil-l-2104c),CCSC) at maybe tractor supply or Sams/ Wal-Mart? Thanks...

under carriage work on 455E planning stage

Hello everyone. Sorry for so many questions. I bought a 455E loader backhoe for the farm. I thought the pins might need to be turned, but now I am told I should pretty much get a new under carriage because the rails are too worn to turn the pins. That was a very sad day. I am hoping to do the work m...
