Thanks!

Outstanding advice, many thanks.

...now that hunting season is about over, all I have to stall me is the weather.
And still way too wet to do much dozing.

450B-troubleshooting a miss

Any tips or shortcuts in determining which cylinder is not firing on a 450B?
The injector pump was rebuilt about 20hrs ago, and the machine had been running great.
Thanks,

Greg

Now I was hoping ya'll wouldn't say the referenced "sleeve" was a cylindler liner
But how come I am not seeing water in the oil? Or maybe I will the next time I pull the dipstick...

I was planning on bad news, but this is BAD news.

I was not thinking head gasket, due to water not reaching the oil. But if in the head, it would still be have a path via an open exhaust valve..unless I was just "lucky" every time I shut it down.

Randy: what sleeve are you referring to?

Thanks

450B water in exhaust?

The scenario: we lose water quickly while operating, but it is not visible as to where it's going....and if you top the radiator off while shutdown and cool, and wait 30 minutes or more...fire it up, and you will see water (maybe 8 ounces?) spew from the exhaust, both at the hood junction, and out t...

450B injector pump

Parts are in, manual is purchased, ready to get the injector pump in great shape....and now the starter has a major drag, barely turning over the engine. So much for moving the crawler to the workshop. Good battery (even tried a 2nd fully charged unit), also used jumper cables. Good connection at st...

Excellent information, and greatly appreciated. The JD manual is often lacking in detail, with some fuzzy photocopy pics. Lacking experience in injector pumps, but very willing to learn, where might details be found on the pumps? It is a D-series pump, and stays "wet" enough that a rebuild or seal k...

450B injector pump

Our 450B requires lots of care and feeding, but the diesel usage was up due to a leak at the injector pump. It appears to be around the throttle shaft, dripping out on the block side of the shaft. Rather than take off the pump (with the potential timing problems), it appears the upper part of the pu...

I can relate..

Our recently acquired (Aug 06) 450B/C also suffers from the stripped right side bellhousing bolts. The seller proudly told us of "all the new bolts", but the dim bulb in my head didn't come on to question why. After several hours of use, the right side bolts were working their way out... So I concoc...

450B/C hybrid?

First post/great forum: My neighbor and I purchased a 450B (maybe?); anyway, the tag says "Duplicate Plate", and reads "JD450BC150623*". It is a turbo engine, with R-N-H-L and 1-4 range to the left of the driver. Had the brake bands and clutch discs replaced (both sides); dry clutch unit. Any guess ...
