Actually no, she's hinting at death if I don't honey dew. I'm the kinda guy who spends years fixing equipment for a one day job... but I believe I'm saving big money by DIY. Would you want to be married to me? (That's a rhetorical - philosophical question.)

Ah "the estate sale", my wife has assured me that there will be a great deal of stuff for sale at bargain basement prices if anything untoward should happen to me. Nice trick above for saving a painted over ID tag. Brushing on some paint remover and having a bucket of hot water right there sounds cl...

Hee-hee. Well that's no humble opinion but it's just the kind of helpful thinking I'm interested in and grateful for. I certainly don't mean to come off as seriously argumentative nor unappreciative. Lavoy knows how grateful I am for his advice and the advice of others. I've said so often in my post...

I've never started an argument with Lavoy but I've been thinking for a couple days about his belief that track frames ought to be parallel to within an eighth of an inch . !! I can't wait to jack up my 1010 and hang the track frames so I can shake them. I bet they move an inch back and forth. I can'...

The reason I was unable to post pictures is that I had the "disable BBCode in this post" box checked... WHATEVER THAT IS, it wouldn't allow me to post pictures. Figuring this out is like stopping the hammer hitting me on the head. Go into your profile on this website and check the "YES" box for "Alw...

Now why in the hell can't I do that? Did you go to my Photobucket account and grab the img tag or just copy it from my post?
I'm lost... there's something REALLY dumb that I'm missing!

Posting photos is SO EASY. Why didn't somebody tell me? ha ha ha ha. This is the drawbar I've been talking about. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_1CALv0ZF69M/TWxkAaFlfBI/AAAAAAAAFLE/2ElBJkH8FKo/s400/IMG_9743.JPG And this is the bolt head that's in the new insert I made before I realized I could m...

Thanks Lavoy; I needed to know what you thought the limits ought to be. An eighth inch is like zero tolerance in my mind when you're talking about a beat up undercarriage on a bulldozer!
Do you adjust these things by loosening clamps on the rear crossbar and sliding it a little?

Thanks you guys. It can't be so complicated. There's something I'm not understanding. I'll try again later tonight.

1010 drawbar repair - and picture posting problems!

Lavoy, please kill this post off completely if it doesn't work. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a picture IN my post here. I can't get this website to accept anything I try to attach to my Picasa Website. Still won't work... sorry... back later. Lavoy? If you see this post, just shoot it d...

And when you say "parallel", you mean dead nuts. 3/8" out is NOT allowable. That said, I don't think better tolerances can be achieved using a ruler on rock guards... which is why the "live" test of running the thing a hundred feet and observing how the tracks actually run through the front idlers i...

Hee-hee. I don't think you offended a soul Ron. Not to worry, we all have iron poor blood... I meant to give Lavoy a poke rather than a plug. And now our moderator can delete these last few silly messages as in no way having any redeeming social value - except to show that Ron is a nice guy.

So that was a typo in that post I had the link to... it's standard practice to let it go 100 feet and look at how the tracks are running on the front idlers. And you think 3/8" out is okay for track frames? Then why not shim the front idlers so they are at least parallel to each other - or the track...

We all worship at the altar of Lavoy Wilcox. No kool-aid, we're desperate.
