Pond/Building scraper
It is nice to have such a boss. I was lucky once too. If you are going to build it, then you might want to consider incorporating a method to lower the teeth further on one side than the other, wheels too for that matter. That should allow you to control it kinda like a 3 pt unit and make it more ve...

Backhoe
James, I don't know where you are located but I have a Model 51 Hoe Attachment that is missing one cylinder (robbed for a log splitter) and a couple of blownout valves, otherwise complete. I bought it used, from a fellow that had it on his 2010. I used it on my 440 back in '75. Been sittin' here sin...

Pond for Boss
Sounds like the Boss may be 'negotiating' from a 'position of strength', I'd be very careful of involvement if you think the job MAY be beyond your equipment. You could just 'upset' the boss as well as destroy your equipment. If the site has a side slope then the 'tongue' pulled box or 'pan' will of...

Positive ground
The flathead 'old' Fords were 6v positive ground and there are alternators available that are set up for 6v positive ground for them. Mounting bracket may be a concern.

Droppin' trees solo
LastChance, I know what you mean about 'solo'...kids gone here now too. But, it is nice not to wonder if they stayed where you said, when the action starts. The rope attachment at height is a key ingredient for sure. I've so far climbed or laddered up when using a rope to pull. That is one reason I ...

Pushin' Trees
LastChance...That is a good idea, using a 'weight' on the pull rope. Never even thought about that !! Duh..., live and learn!! I've pulled some down too, but not with John...with the Ford 4000. John always allowed me to push on the tree and lock the brakes to hold pressure on it. The ford brakes are...

Lavoy, This is to you especially: have a great holiday that only exceeds the greatness of your web site. Here is hoping your new year of 2006 is better than ever and I for one, thank you for all of your efforts with/for the JD crawlers.

Knocking down trees with a crawleer
Interesting use of a crawler loader. I've pushed over trees after setting the bucket against them, setting brake, dismounting and then cutting partially through the tree, and then remounting the seat and pushing over the tree. Works find with some care. One time I especially remember was when I notc...
