Some may be repairable but some are missing the side flanges so I think those are shot! I did get from Lincoln their process for roller repair. Lincoln suggested preheating and build up, followed by hardface with MM rod. May give it a try but likely will need to shells anyway.

Likely need three shells. I will pull them all off this weekend and let you know. Send me a PM with prices. Thanks.

Some of the old rollers are missing the side flanges so not sure if they can be salvaged. Picked up two on eBay so will see how they look when they arrive. I will remove them all and see how they look. Some look pretty good and some are shot.

440 Bottom Rollers

Looking for some bottom rollers for a 440. Any aftermarket supply for them, or is this a Deere part? Kind of pricey from Deere.

Thanks. The rebuild continues!!! Finals are done. Heading to the engine clutch next. I will let you know if I need more parts once I get a look and see why it is stuck. Likely rusted just like the steering clutches were.

440 Bottom Rollers

Does anyone know if Part No. AM2008T rollers will fit on a JD 440? The manual calls for Part No. AM2009T. The AM2008T may be from an earlier crawler???

Get some 1/2" plywood under the tracks and you will be surprised how well it can slide. I moved mine into my garage by using plywood since my JD 440 crawler would not steer.

Lavoy; Saw your response in YTMag and tried what you suggested. No luck. I have attached a picture. Does the front outside ring need to be removed? You can see where the spanner nut has been removed from the cylinder head. Not sure if the outer ring needs removal to move the cylinder head. http://pu...

Thanks. I may have to go to a shop since I can not get the cylinder apart. I removed the cylinder from the crawler and removed the spanner nut. So far so good. The manual indicates to press the cylinder head in to provide clearance to remove the snap ring. I can not budge the cylinder head. Tried ba...

831 Loader on 440icd

Does Deere still make rebuild kits for the hydraulic cylinders for the 831 loader? I have a user manual on the loader but not a parts manual. Need to rebuild one bucket cylinder (the short 5" diameter cylinder) and could not locate the 831 loader on JDParts. Have not opened up the cylinder yet but i...

440 Backhoe Attachment

Looking to add a backhoe to my 440icd. Found a Ware 400B attachment which came off an Oliver OC46 crawler. Mounting bracket looks about right. Does anyone know if this attachment is about the same size as the Deere 50 backhoe attachment?

Lavoy: Completely agree. Hate the feel of the levers like they are. Finals will be coming off over the weekend. Going to tighten up the tie-rods and may make a bushing for the left side steering lever shaft since there is more play than I like. Fine tuning this to get it feeling right. This is the f...

No big deal since I still have all the tracks and fenders off the machine, finals can be off in minutes. Just frustrating that I did not think of this when I had everything off. Thought I had retired my final drive cradle! Rookie lesson learned. Hopefully this posting helps the next rookie crawler r...

Lavoy:

Thanks. I think I will do it correctly and pull the finals and shorten the tie-rods. They appear adjustable from what I recall. After all this work, taking the finals back off is minor.
