Just pulls trees down with a long cable. Attach like 1/3 up the tree. This is about the biggest size tree I am able to pull with my 1010.

I installed a Sunpro 2 5/8 tach from a local auto parts store in my 1010 gas. It hooks up with 4 wires (12v, ground, allumination, and one wire to the negative side on the coil)

I just installed an hour meter too.

1010 Roll cage

I just finished the roll cage on my 1010. It seems safer now with the back screen, roof, and seatbelt. After running the machine for maybe 8 hours now, it works well, the only problem it has is the left steering clutch slips sometimes at full power. I played with the adjustment, but it didn’t change...

1010 track looses power

I just finished installing a new 1-wire alternator to replace the bad generator. I ran the machine for a couple hours today, 14volts all day. The bulldozer is working well, but the left track can some times loose power and stop spinning when pushing hard with the machine. I’m guessing some kind of c...

I ordered this "12 volt 63amp Delco 10SI negative ground alternator with a self-energizing,one-wire regulator" from here: http://www.dbelectrical.com/alternators/tractoralt.shtml Lavoy, when the engine is running, it looks like it leaks oil and the oil burns and smokes, I think from this tube on the...

43 amp is fine. That sounds easy enough to hook up. Lavoy can I order it from you? Or can I get it at a auto parts store or something? And did you see that picture of the engine smoke?

I want to keep it a negative ground. What alternator can I order? Will I need a voltage regulator or anything else with an alternator?

1010 Gas wont charge

I just got a 1010 Gas crawler. It starts and runs fine, but does not charge. When I got it, it was hooked up negative ground, and the wiring has been played with. I think the generator may be bad, when the engine is running, a voltage meter says 0 or .04 on ether generator terminal. And I am not sur...

My new 1010

Even after most of you suggested not to buy this crawler, I bought it anyways. So far I fixed allot of loose bolts, installed the skidplate, tightened the tracks, installed gauges, cleaned and painted, and a bunch of other repairs. It's working good. I'm going to do a little more too it, and maybe a...

How much is this machine worth? Will auto part store gauges work (tach, temp, oil)? It comes with the engine skid plate and another set of tracks. I’m going to look at it with a friend who has a couple machines. I have a nice shop to work on it in, and I would say I am a good mechanic. And would som...

Thinking about buying a JD 1010 Edit: New pictures

I am thinking about buying my first machine, it’s a John Deere 1010 crawler, gas motor. The guy wants $3,500 for it. It starts and works pretty well. Is something this old worth buying, is it worth $3,500? How difficult is it to get parts and work on? I am worried that it’s going to break right away...
