Our new track link has the bushing already in place and we were told by a guy who used to work on heavy equipment that it's almost impossible to get the bushing out of the track link if it was put in there by the factory. Is this true? Is there any way we could do all this with the tracks still on t...

440 track pin broken
We've been using our 440 pretty heavily recently to help dig a pond and the other day we broke a track pin. The pin was welded (by the PO) to hold it in place and it finally broke off. We have a spare track link w/ bushing and we just ordered two master link pins from Lavoy. The bushing is badly wor...

440 clutch installation
Re-installing the main drive clutch disc on my 440IC, cannot remember if the side with the longer hub section goes toward engine or trans ? Embarrassed to admit this, but cannot find in the manual, not clear from parts list. Appreciate help.

440 clutch lubrication question
Re-installling the throw out bearing assembly in a 440 gas. Should the carrier that slides on the clutch tube be packed with grease inside, and if so, what kind of grease ? Grease from the zerk fitting only goes to bearing, possibly there is another path for grease to inside of carrier that is block...

440ic welding
I bought a 440ic from a serial welder. The center hydraulic reservoir between the loader arms is welded at the flanges that should be bolted. I guess it was easier to weld than keep the bolts tight. Anyway, was planning to grind out the weld (not a good job by the way) and repair the flanges to allo...

manifold paint
Is there any paint that will truly hold up over time on a two cylinder exhaust manifold ? Have a 40 that will glow dark cherry red in the dark, and these vertical 2 cylinders seem to eat manifolds.

Mark, that puts the reverser in perspective. Having never used a crawler, some things don't hit you--like backing up rather than turning around. I guess turning won't be the first choice. On the other hand, I may be more patient in reverse when I recall how tight some of the bolts were getting the e...

440IC Reverser Shaft
Thanks for all suggestions. First, what is normal cost for used input shaft, and any leads on where to search for one ? Second, have a coupling, was considering sawing in two and extending by weldiing sleeve outside. I agree 3/4 inch is too llittle engagement. And hear Lavoy about balance, although ...

New 440IC Reverser Shaft
I just Disassembled the reverser from recent purchase 440IC, has forward clutch tabs sheared off. Considering replacing reverser with the JD coupling used on the non-reverser setup-- lose the reverser for simplicity and durability. Can I simply install the coupling on the original shafts, or must th...
