My 40c starter will jam once in a while. I find that if I loosen the nut and tapered bolt that locks the starter in place and then pry the starter away from the flywheel a bit, the bendix will usually come free. Shove the starter back in place, install and tighten the bolt and lock nut and away it ...
Thanks Lavoy,
Still doing hay, and haven't pulled the starter yet.
My friend thats is interested in it has offered to come down and help "tinker" with it.
Just so I know going in....How much for a starter? And I expect also a switch?
Thanks. Wondering if I put it in 4th and pull it a foot or two if that would work? Not getting any spark at the points yet, so I know it wont accidentally start. Which also makes me wonder about the switch as a second problem. Haying right now so if it takes me awhile to try stuff or get back to you...
No, it wont turn over. My dad (92) said it was turning over and he stopped. When he tried it again it clicked and he says it acted like the starter jammed. That was a year or two ago. Always kept in a dry barn when not being used. Tonight I tried touching a cable from the pos post to the starter and...
Hello after a long time away! My old pc operating system went obsolete and my boss bought me a company phone that I limited my online data with. I still have my '52 MC crawler but a friend has been asking to buy it. It ran when parked about 2 years ago, and I told him I had no idea what it was worth...
Friend got 2.5 gph. He built the track for his brother (and himself) on their dad's place. He really appreciated the info so he had an idea how much fuel to take as he didn't have a tank in his pickup and didn't want to buy fuel up there. Bought off road from the company he works for, so he figures ...
A friend is planning on renting a 450 to build a motorcross track. He asked me how much fuel it would burn in 8 hrs with moderate shoving. Doesn't know which model but I would expect something more recent as it is a rental machine. I told him I knew where I could find out....
I'd go with what Lavoy said. Try to limit your hard shoving to the middle of the blade. You want to push as evenly with each track as you can anyway no matter how stout the blade is. Easier on the drive train. At least get the operators manual. Looking at the steering levers, I think you may need to...
I think I read in the forum rules that if you reach 356 posts before you sell your crawler, and are in good standing, you are considered a lifetime member.
Seriously, not seeing your username on here would seem strange. Good luck with your new Deere.
