Hey Chuck, It does have a reverser but there is no shifting lever on top of the transmission. I found a pic in the 1010 parts manual of the top of the transmission and there is also a pic on here where someone was referring to it as an early model 1010 style of shifter that goes up through the dash....

possibly looking for 6 way for 440 (hyd)

I was also wondering if there was any sign of a 6 way hyd blade for a 440 out there anywhere or if anyone has adapted something else to work. Even if I had the framework for inside the tracks. I have access to blades from other tractors that I could modify if I had to. Current blade is mounted outsi...

Hi everyone, I don't have pictures yet and I have found a little information but now need to clarify what I am looking at. Found what I thought was a 440 diesel. Currently have a gas model we have just finished restoring with a blade. This other one is with a bucket so thought what the heck and figu...

Thank you for the response. I thought I was losing it while looking at the book and wondering if it was possible to have mixed something up in the transmission

hey pop pop, I have since finished putting mine together and the only rubber bushings that I know of are the ones on the front crossbar under the main frame rails. I went and rebuilt the whole trackframe by getting them linebored and bushings pressed in at the back and in the front. In the front, wh...

Shifting pattern on 440

I have a later model 440 gas with the 5 speed tran. The shift pattern is not the same as it shown in the service manual. The reverse and second gear is opposite of what it says it should be. Reverse is to the top left and 2nd is to the bottom left. In the manual it says reverse is supposed to be in ...

Track frame attachment on 440IC

Hi, Does anyone know how much clearance there is around the crossbars where they mate to the track frame. As near as I can tell there is about 0.150" clearance around the front cross bar...Should I get the bar built up or make a bushing to fit? On the rear where the cross bar goes into the track fra...

New 440IC gas owner introducing myself

Lavoy, Nice sight you have going on here. I have been looking through all of the posts and finding lots of relevant information to getting the 440 up and running. We purchased (my father and I) the dozer last year in pieces. It was literally in a lot of boxes. We hope we have enough parts to finish ...

Height of fingers on clutch plate for 440

Hi everyone, I am looking for the dimensions off of the gauge for setting the clutch fingers on a 440 IC gas. This is a total project as we got the dozer literally in boxes as the previous owner took it apart twelve years ago and then died before getting it back together and we got a chance to get i...
