Re: thinking newer truck

I'd want the most important option.......paid in full!

I like the new trucks but I've been hearing about so many problems with the tier IV diesel engines I don't know if I'd go diesel. For me I just wouldn't use it enough to justify the added cost.

While my wife was taking some AG classes at the local community college one student there was a refugee from Africa. His idea of American help follows: He was the 3rd generation refugee camp. Some families have been in there so long they no longer know how to hunt, forage or grow their own food. Bec...

It works. When I looked at my 7U D4 last year the pony didn't run. Hooked it up to a wheel tractor on flat ground and it took about 5 feet for the diesel to pop right off. And they roll easier than a wheel tractor because the weight is spread out so you eliminate wheels sinking in. I know that on my...

It has gotta be hard to get around in the woods with a set of heels like that. Bryce You know it was, so much that half way through she had to switch to her logging boots! :-) https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/10401997_880101308670072_596081256952543753_n.jpg?oh=99d15da9e0f980b9b35d001f...

OT JCB/Leyland

I'm looking for a used engine, Leyland 4/98 for my backhoe. I'm looking at either a decent used engine or an in frame. Only use it 100-200 hours a year so it's not worth buying a different backhoe. I can get the engine kit for around 1500. Be a bit easier to just drop an engine in. The TLB is a JCB ...

I spent a year working for Facebook. I no longer have a 'page' there though. After deleting it, I noticed the sun shining, heard birds chirping and I definitely need to go mow the lawn :P I have a facebook account. I finally figured out that a social networking site is not the place for an anti soc...

I am constantly fighting off the scrappers here when the price of steel gets high. They think just because it is old and rusty that it never gets used; well not on a sheep farm. It is funny how Lavoy was mentioning how moldboard plows are making a comeback. I watched a video on Youbube about compac...

Here basically on the real big ones we just dig a deep hole next to em and roll them in. As long as the bottom is below the frost line they won't heave but sometime in the future and with enough tillage they will become a problem again but not for a very long time. Funny how my BIL had huge rocks an...

Re: Project 2016

Every year my wife and I pick one big project and then try to complete it. Last year it was the building of our barn, while this year it is turning a 10 acre corn field back into a hay field. We kind of got shafted, but only because a local dairy farmer went out of business and ended up leaving hun...

I have a 2-14 Deerborne that I use for our garden. I did plow an 8 acre field with it and a Ford 8N a couple of years ago. Here you can no till but soil compaction after the 2nd year affects yields. For a long time everyone was chisel plowing but mow board plows are making a huge comeback. I have a ...

Hi, Back in 1966, before he became the machinist in his brother's dealership, Dad was about to buy a D2. But, just before he did, the 420c was traded in. The rest is history, still sitting in my shed. Just used it day before yesterday. :) Stan I was looking for a 2 cylinder JD crawler when I bought...

Re: Help on d 4 cat

I realize this may not be the proper place to ask these questions, but maybe someone can help or tell me politely where to go. I have a 1947 d4 cat with a d315 cat engine that I am getting fuel into the oil. where is the most likely place for that to happen? transferr pump ? injector pump seals?? A...

Hi, What is this 'snow' you speak of?? 60 deg here (58 at the County Airport) and sunny here today. Gonna get some more rain here tomorrow, but is a nice day for putting my old 420c back together. Had to rebuild the starter. It finally gave out..... Stan This snow we speak of only comes to areas wh...
