I'm guessing you are talking about the isolator, it does have springs, but no you dont winded them up, dont know why you would break new ones, unless something out of place and they getting jam against the inside of the reverser housing, not much clearance in there

Just to add also you may want to checked the drain at the bottom of the steering clutches if you havent to see if theres any water or maybe oil in there from a leaking seal.

I am confused, I think lol, does the main top pipe [ where the smoke comes out ] clamp to the extension that bolts to the hood, or does it connect to the pipe coming out of the muffler? I'm sure I'm just not getting it

Tigerhaze I did read it good point, I proberly didnt give enough information I did have the pump apart to clean and reseal so I dont think thats the problem, but not saying its not because I dont know :? , just what I've seen before on other things it acts just like one with slow timing or fuel filt...
