I would purchase one if they become available. My crawler isn't in good enough shape yet to be in one though.

420c sod pan removal?

I am trying to remove the sod pan from my 420c for the first time and I am having a hard time figuring it out. I took out the bolts under the front bumper, The big side bolts (one on each side), the four that bolt to the final drives (two on each side). The front will drop almost a foot and the rear...

420c right steering lever is sloppy.

The right steering lever on my 420c is sloppy where it goes into the housing causing it to sit at a little different angle than the left one. It steers good but I know something is wrong in there. Any ideas?

Lowboy if you are looking for an excellent degreaser, pick up a product called "Marine Clean" by the makers of POR15. I could not believe how well it removed the grease and buildup with ease. I mixed it five to one with hot water. The best part is that it doesn't leave any residue that has to be rem...

I recently had the opportunity to load mine onto a car hauler using a hand come along. It wasn't bad at all. The most important thing was getting lined up straight. to unload I just used a pin bar on each side and put through the holes in the track pads and "walked" it to the ramps. Once it starts m...

Skidder, To post your pictures go to http://216.104.73.215/jdcrawlers/pictures/upload.php and follow the instructions there. Once you do it it is easy. The answers to your other questions are better answered by someone that has more experience with these crawlers than myself.

Yes Lavoy The weights are kind of wobbly and the brass thrust washer is worn out. I have decided not to put it back together without rebuilding/replacing the governor. Is there a rebuild kit available from you for this governor? If so I will add it to my list of parts I will be getting from you soon...

420c governor worn?

http://216.104.73.215/jdcrawlers/pictures/images/governor.jpg Is the pictured damage something of concern or should it be considered normal? The brass washer that goes between the block and the governor shaft is pretty worn could that be causing the wear on the timing gear and timing gear cover? Th...

I appreciate the offer CCWKen. I am hoping to have this one up and running by December. Are you thinking of selling yours? I may still be interested but Texas is a long ways away. Thanks again.

We have settled with the insurance company and are kind of looking for a 420c or similar to "get us by" until I get the burned one redone. If anyone has one that they are selling for a reasonable price please let me know. Thanks to all for your comments, suggestions and most of all sympathy. John

Those are all good ideas. I will be sure to use at least one of them on the rebuild. It looks as though the insurance company may cover some of the damage, however they are having a hard time finding a value for this 420c.

The fire makes the damage look worse than it is I will be ordering the hood, radiator, hoses, wire harness, seat, etc. to put it back together as I feel it is worth it. Lavoy you are absolutely right as to what happened to it. We let the loggers "borrow" it to get down into the frozen swamp. They mu...
