What have I gotten myself into??
I got the winch off the machine tonight, and the ring and pinion is broken. I have a service manual ordered, but it won't be here for a few days. Can anyone point me in the right direction to tear this thing down in the meantime? Thanks for the help.

I have my neighbors 440ic in the shop replacing the axle in the left final drive. When he bought the machine, the seller told him the ring and pinion was out of it as well. Is there any way to look at the ring and pinion without dropping the winch off the back of it?
