Have searched forum for location of serial number.
Previous gorrila owners had removed entire plate below seat.
Is there another location for serial number?
450B turbo TLB
Thanks

John Deere 450B steering throwout shaft and fork
After tearing down the left side of 450B, there was nothing really wrong with steering clutches other than normal wear. They weren't frozen at all. Came out of basket with no problems. Brake band lining was worn severely. Problem is AT26512 shaft and T20711 fork. The shaft was frozen in bushings. To...

450 pinion shaft out
Used an old bush hog blade carrier for weight on a home made slide hammer.
About 15 lbs and 26" in diameter.
Two whacks and pinion shaft came out.
Classic case of using a bigger hammer...

Set screw/locknut were removed and splines were soaked with PB Blaster before before starting. Clutch basket is suspended by lift with no pressure so pinion shaft is free to float. The pinion shaft splines (male) move freely by hand in and out of the clutch basket splines (female) until the shaft is...

450 pinion shaft won't come out.
Had already lubed up splines before starting. Bashed on it again with slide hammer today for about 15 minutes. Pinion splines freely wiggle back and forth, up and down a little in clutch basket. Can slide pinion shaft back and forth by hand in clutch basket. Gets so far out and stops hard against so...

450B pinion shaft
Decided to replace long needed steering clutches/brakes on both sides Everything on left side was frozen or rusted. Had to massage the little pins, cotter keys and other small parts to get them out. Took a lot of time so as not to damage anything. Got down to removing pinion shaft. Took out pinion s...

450 steering clutches
Also have my 450B up on the operating table for steering clutches. Have a digger derrick truck, that helps a lot with lifting off tank/seat assembly, moving tracks around, etc. Set tractor on blocks of oak chain-sawed out of a recent downed tree. Had to use a block of wood and Enerpac to get sprocke...

TDC on flywheel
Not sure why you could not get the pin into the flywheel hole. I do it with a big screwdriver and only takes a few minutes to find TDC. You could get some extra experience if the pump drive gear moves. Look at this picture in the link below. When I bought this 450B, previous owner had been screwing ...

Winch
It looks like a Garwood.
Have a similar looking winch here.
Its really slow and will pop 1/2" winch cable with no problem.
The small shaft with the notch should have a handle.
The handle engages/disengages the spool.
[The small shaft should only move about 45°]

Pictures of governor weight retainer old and new style.
Here are a few pictures of old and new style governor weight retainers for a JDB style pump. Notice the deteriorated flexible governor weight retaining ring. This is the home of the "rat turds" mentioned in the message board. http://s916.photobucket.com/albums/ad9/np205/Stanadyne%20injector%20pump/?...

New injector pump
Brand new injector pump was delivered yesterday.
NOTE: New pumps come with a new shaft included!
Now have a new pump drive shaft I don't need.
Will keep it in case something like this ever happens again.

New Injector pump
Ordered a brand new injector pump today. Not much difference in price between a rebuilt pump + core charge vs factory new unit. I'd rather pay the small difference and get a new pump than take a chance on a rebuilt pump with unknown hours/years of use. Took old pump apart No water, rust, debris or m...
