I need to replace the head gasket on my 1966 450 and was wondering which one to use, the fiber composite type one sold by John Deere (R98461)or the Maxi Force steel type (TR98461) ?

So it should be the bottom outlet to the bottom of the filter then?

Turns out it was the radiator cap, that was causing the problem

Does anyone know of anyone parting out a 450 in the New England area with a decent 6 way blade? I found one at a local dealer but it's in pretty rough shape.

I had the engine rebuild in my 450 (diesel) last year, it has about 3 hours on it now. When I use it for a short time the temp gauge goes to red and pretty much stays there, even if I let it idle for a while, it has a 180 thermostat which I replaced with another 180 degree thermostat, it appeared as...

I recently had the engine rebuilt in my 450, and now when I operate the machine the temp needle seems to stay in the red for quite a while before the thermostat opens and brings it back to normal operating temp. Is this normal or should I replace the thermostat? I'm nervous that in the summer months...

Does anyone know if it is possible to add power steering to a 450 aftermarket, or is that an option that would have had to come from the factory ?
