When I took the pump off both times, I had the flywheel/engine at TDC using the pin in the hole on the flywheel and the pump was at TDC with the pin provided with it. Plus the first time I reinstalled the pump, I did get it to run for about 20 seconds but hasn't hit a lick since. The return line y'a...

Here's the latest. I took the pump in to get it checked out once again and they say it's good. I still can't get the dozer to start. My question now is this. I have a very good stream of fuel going to the pump (shoots out about 4 or so inches) but when I take the 4 lines off the pump that goes to th...

I had a similar problem when I went to look at buying my 450. It was getting fuel but it wouldn't hit. As soon as I pulled the air intake hose to the intake manifold it fired right up. It turned out the air filter was totally clogged to the point of collapse. It looked like the original filter from...

450 won't start
I have a 66 straight JD450 with a CDC Fuel injection pump that will not start. Here's the events. All this started one day when the dozer just stopped running as if it lost fuel. I got it started long enough to get to the house but if it was put under any load, it would stall, so I had to stay in lo...

You are right. The model number on the injection pump is CDC431-3DG. How do I know for sure the pump is bad because it looks like a replacement will be in the ballpark of $800 and I'd hate to get one and it be something else. My dad told me something the other day that I'd forgot about. When he desc...

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate this. The line I took off to check for fuel was the one on the bottom. I believe it is the fuel inlet line. (see picture below) How would I know if I have a "DB" pump? I don't see how a mice could get up there but I've seen stranger things. I'll research that...

JD450 Stalls when put under a load
I have a 77 JD450 Dozer that seems to not be getting enough fuel. It'll stall when turning, climbing, above 2H gear, ets... Are the problem started, we replaced the fuel filters and bled the system. We removed the diesel line from the injector pump and it shoots fuel out pretty good. Do you think my...

Does this clutch plate look bad
I'm posting this as a new thread: Can yall look at the attached steering clutch plate to see if I need to change them? The ones on the outside look like this one in the picture with the groves but the ones closer towards the middle look good. Should I still replaced them? The problem with my "no pow...

I've almost got the clutch out finally. I'm to the point of removing the jam nut and set screw for the throw out shaft but I'm having to let those screws set with some "break free" rust looser stuff on them. Then I'll be lifting the clutch out. This is definitely a learning experience. If I see some...

I finally got the track apart after hours of beating. I never did see a pin with a clip on the backside and I turned the track around and visually looked and cleaned every single pin and still no clip. The only thing different about the pins was one had a hole in the ends of it both on the inside an...

Today I adjusted the steering clutch and brake and I still have no power to the left track. While I had the covers off the top, I was pulling the brakes/steering handles and I could see the clutches moving out on both sides. They seems to look the same. What should I look for next? I've got the trac...

how to take track apart
On a 450, how does the track come apart? I've beat and beat on what I think is the "master" pin and it hardly moves at all with me hitting it with a 20lb hammer. I've hit and hit and so far it's only moved about 1/8 inch.
I didn't see any pins at all that had maybe a "C" lock pin.
