Re: what exactly do I have?

That is an inventory control tag like used at dealerships, municipalities and such to identify a piece of equipment. Look on the LH side of the center section between the sediment bowl, and the front of the transmission. If you have a tag, that is where it will be. You have an "all green" 1956 420, ...

Re: 420 hydraulic schematics

He has a cam pump, you have a crank pump, two entirely different animals, no similarity other than they both pump oil. There are no service parts available for your pump unfortunately.

Re: 1965 JD350 with sloppy 6 way blade

Bushings will be expensive regardless of made or purchased, but guessing most will be obsolete. Likely the pins will be worn too. Bushings for the cylinder ends might still be available, I just got some for a much older blade.

Re: Gearmatic 8A winch

Function depends on which way you have mounted the controller and/or run the lines. If the controller lever over centers and stays locked in one direction, that is for brake release, plumb your line accordingly.

Re: jd420 pics

Main bearings have not been available for almost 2 years. To the best of my knowledge, Clevite has discontinued them, and will no longer be manufacturing them.

Re: 420c

I can only see one rail, but based on the one I can see clearly, the links look good. Pins and bushings were shot a few hundred hours ago, so no way that is original hours. The pitch is already so far off on that crawler it is eating the sprocket, taking a link out will just finish wrecking it. It h...

Yeah, I think I have welded several over the years and thought they were cast steel.

Re: 420c

As long as you links are good enough shape to warrant it, rebush your exising rails, you will in all likelyhood never wear them out again.
I am working on a new production run of pins and bushings, would hope to start rebushing tracks by this fall if not earlier.

Re: 420c

Yes, you can, but by doing so you are doing it knowing that you are running the tracks and sprockets to destruction.

Re: 440IC w/91 loader - possible to remove brake pedal?

Reasonably sure that pedal is cast steel, not cast iron. Drive the crawler up on some railroad ties, slide underneath and weld it in place.
Option 2, cut the part of the pedal your foot pushes on off in the center, remove the pedal, fix the pedal, weld the cutoff section back on.
