DELO 100 40wt is what i use also.. i found out that alot of the marina's will have it on-hand. .. seems there were alot of 2-53's used in boats.

examine plugs for dings, particles, or metalic looking scrapes,,, they might tell you more than you think... if you like fishing,,, stick one of those grabby-wire picker things in the hole and see if you can get a nibble....

eric, from what you have described,, you have a blower seal out. the 2-53 is notorious for the "over-rev and pop" and sounds like you should pull injectors for a cleaning too. you made the right decision for $500. find a deere dealer or another mechanic familiar with 2-53 detroits and where he gets ...
