do you have a service manual for the 440 series spark ignition tractors ? it shows and explains all the tranny info. after you read it you will probably be able to trouble shoot it yourself. it is much more than i want to explain. about 25 pages of reading. but one question is, what made you change ...

they are not hard to make if you have a drill press , torch and welder. a saw makes it even nicer. i made a set thats tougher than original, a little longer, used a thicker material and reinforced at the attaching points, made them with more sprocket/idler coverage and roller coverage. these days th...

look at the turning clutch assembly thru the inspection covers under the seat. my guess is it did rust/seize up from what you described, take a jab at them with a big screwdriver to see if they can be loosen. compare the 2 sides since you say one side works,you'll probably have to fiddle with adjust...

so messing with these injectors, :shock: there is a tiny button(called a valve in the IT booklet) with a crossways grove on one side of the "valve". i am trying to determine which way the groove should face without tearing another injector apart to see. i sort of determined that the groove should be...

one of the problems that shows up on these units with a backhoe is breaking the final drive housing. the 420's had a thinner casting and would crack right off. the Later model 440's and 1010's had thicker castings. all I would say is , don't get rough with the hoe and be bouncing around or dragging ...
