Re: 350D Reverser Issue

I would have to check my manual, you should do so as well. You either have a bad reverser or a pressure leak on one of the steering clutches. Your machine would not move unless the reverser pump was working as it activates each sides wet steering clutch. When you pull the steering handles it stops t...

Re: Need a quick fix for hydraulic oil moving from front dipstick to back

Did you ever try and diagnose the problem?

Most likely one of the steering clutches is leaking, which is operated by the reverser pump.

Technical manual and gauge test is where I would start.

Re: John Deere 350b backhoe hookup questions

To me the main concern is if your machine is designed to accept hoe hooks, after that it's just a bit of hydraulic plumbing and maybe a bigger pump. Do you have a loader or dozer machine? Most loaders have a power beyond valve for hoe use. Dozers came with a factory installed diverter valve to run t...

Re: John Deere 350b backhoe hookup questions

All Deere 350 and 450 Deere loader machines that I have seen from the original 1965 versions up the C models have the ability to accept the hoe / ripper hooks. They are an integral part of the loader assembly. Dozers machines on the other hand were a factory option so not all can take a hoe as is. W...

Test It

Why not test your current thermostat in some boiling water? If it's no good get a 15 dollar replacement.

Engine Replacement

Look for a non turbo 4239. Newer model and starts better. This should be an exact replacement for your non turbo 4219.

Pull your starter and see if you can bar the engine over on the flywheel. My guess is your drive unit (rattler) has come apart and jammed your flywheel.

Reverser Rebuild

Rebuilding the reverser is fairly easy, getting it out of the tractor and on the bench is the tough part.

Transmission Safety

The shift plate should be ground so the 4 speed lever shifts slightly ahead of 3 gear. Always verify the 4 speed is in neutral before getting off a running machine by shifting the HLR into gear and releasing the clutch. When the shift linkages wear you can shift the 4 speed to neutral but still be i...

Engine Repower

I think your going to have too much power, you should be sticking to the similar 65hp that the stock engine has. A non turbo 3.9L would be better, You will have a lot of engineering to do including clutch, bell housing, radiator and hydraulic pump drive. You will be better off finding a good running...

You should be able to buy a good running engine for much less than you are thinking. There is a member in Saskatoon that might sell you a donor crawler.

Backhoe brackets

I'm all out of older 450 backhoe brackets. I'm in need of a couple right now. May have to fabricate a set before spring if I can't come across some. Have a customer that would like a hoe installed on a 450E long track that we are going to rebuild this winter.

Pin Backup

Best to cut a piece of 2-3" pipe to the correct length to fit between the track link and final drive. They can be tight and heat can help, but a backup is needed first.

Backhoe Mounting

Glad to see you got your 350 operational. I would run the tracks fairly tight as your rails are way past poor and you will have a very high risk of throwing a track. If you didn't have rock guards you would throw a rail at every turn. Adding a hoe will compound your poor rail issue. I would recommen...
