3 point hitch 350's

I would think these would be very hard to come by in mint condition as anyone purchased would be used for 3 point hitch work and worked hard. Mine mostly likely was a government machine and had a fire plow on it. I think it has only 4,000 original hours and is in generally good shape. It's the only ...

455G

We have had great luck with our 455G. It's equipped with rear counter weights and a ripper. Incredibly powerful. It has 12.000 hours on it. I thinks it's about 25-50% more machine than a 450C and will lift the same weight as our hoe equipped 450C. We have never had any trouble with our G series mach...

Starter Woes

Now try it when's it 20 below and in Celsius. I see lots of machines with holes cut in the frame or the top of the frame removed. Deere should of had a removeable cover for the bottom bolt. Swivel sockets can sometimes ease the pain. We also have a bin full of bent and welded wrenches for these spec...

Coupler Upgrade

The coupler is short and is centralized by a clip. Last fix we did involved getting 2 new couplers from deere and had them welded together to make one long coupler. The couplers are fairly short and took a lot of abuse as we have widepad loader hoe machines with bigger engines. We take it easy on th...

Deere Valves

Most loader hoe valves will be closed centre and you will need an open centre for your machine. I can get my dad to look in the shed for a segment and very sure we have a few. I believe the valve segments are the same as those used in loader machines. You would just have to unbolt the valve stack an...

Grease Fittings

The grease fittings near the bottom of the axle case and pointing forward will most likely be used for bleeding the brakes. This is what I have seen on a 410, so a 310 is most likely the same.

Next Project

We have 4 MC's torn down right now and will be limited on building anymore as we will be out of useable MC undercarriage. We are trying to go 100% original which is a big challange and is basically a 100% disassembly and then picking the best parts for reassembly, some with tool bar hydraulics and s...

Track Removal

We used to do 3 o'clock on the sprocket and used a piece of pipe between the track link and final drive case to hammer out the master pins. Much easier now that we built a track press, usually over the top roller. Don't remove the grease nipple to remove track tension. Unscrew the bolt and jam nut b...

Pressure Plate Rebuild

We are trying it get some heavier springs made so we can rebuild the pressure plates. This is a common problem with all deere dry steering clutch machines. Will get them in green deere, 350 and 450 once we get them figured out. My dad is now full time on shop work I'm there almost every weekend. My ...

Engine Swap

All 4 cylinder 4276 and older will replace a 4239. We just installed a non-turbo 4239 for a turbo 4219 in our 450C loader cat. Only issue we had was with the intake hoses. Saving a half can of ether a week as I'm sure the replacement engine will start down to -15 unassisted and not plugged in. So op...

B vs C Final Drives

I've gotten a little smarter on identifying C vs older model crawlers by looking at the upper mounting portion of the final drive. I often buy equipment by picture and never trust the model to be as advertised. Most machines have been repainted at some point in time and often get C series decals, wh...

350 Rebuild Program

I would recommend that while you have the tranny out to the undercarriage work as well. Most of the time you will get a few broken bolts in the track frames and it is best to remove them completely from the crawler to remove the broken bolts and install rollers, rock guards, etc. We normally rip the...

Road Trip To Alberta

We have a few but a fair drive to get them. If your is salvageable, they are fairly easy to rebuild and the parts are reasonable. I just did my 420 engine. I had to go 40 over and have my crank down. Did save on pistons as we had a real good set of used on hand. It was the first engine I assembled b...

Next Hoe For Conversion

I got this unsed Cat 420D hoe in a few months ago. Looks to be complete less the bucket. I know for sure that all the cylinders, stabilizers and valve are present, hopefully all the pins made it. We have many backhoe buckets in the collection, so hopefully we have something that will work. If not we...

253 vs 2 cylinder gas

I really enjoy my ICD, but only use it occasionally for blading the yard. It does take a shot of either to start but runs great, very little smoke. It might just be the 2 cycle roar, but I think power wise it will out perform a 1010 or older 350 diesel. The 2 cylinder gas engines are very easy to wo...
