Re: 550G
Slack the brakes off manually. There is a pipe plug on the outside about the tracks, should take a 3/4” extension. Then use a screwdriver to rotate the adjuster.

If you can handle shipping from Alberta, Canada I can look this weekend. I know we have a tranny that was cracked and rear end will be intact.

Re: 350C Undercarriage Overhaul
How we would tackle this repair - remove all track pads - cut rails off with a torch - remove idlers - remove track frames, easier to remove rollers and extract broken bolts - remove sprockets - replace bottom rollers Reverse order for install Installing the master pin is not horrible, easier than r...

Re: 455E with an issue...whining sound
What I meant was direct connect the hoses with regular fittings, eliminating a possible quick coupler issue. You need to find the problem and stop running your machine. My next step would be to remove the power beyond fitting in your loader hydraulic valve and install a normal plug. This would elimi...

Re: 455E with an issue...whining sound
Check the quick connects for your backhoe. Best remove them and connect with full flow fittings to ensure the connectors are not the problem. This was one of the first lessons on running a Deere with a hoe as will blow up a hydraulic pump real quick. The vibration is your relief valve hitting its max.

Re: 450e steering clutch pressure manifold
You will need to rebuild your clutch assembly or buy a new one. We get them turned down and sleeved which saves some money. Best to replace the oring and all piston rings, they are not that expensive.

Re: use of ether to try and start,
Are you stepping the clutch pedal to the floor? Is the mechanical clutch functioning, if you shift between gears 1 to 4 with the engine running then it working. Without the main mechanical clutch there is additional drag to spin the transmission A Deere engine needs to be turned over quickly to star...

Re: 455E with an issue...whining sound
The whining is your relief valve in your hydraulic valve. The hoses for your backhoe are either not connected or improperly connected. You will be asking where to get a pump if you run it like this. The backhoe is run via a power beyond circuit off the main valve. Could also be your return to level ...

Best to phone a wrecker and get the power beyond fitting, or buy the one from the guy you got the hoe from.

Re: Power beyond sleeve for backhoe attachment
From what I’ve seen loader use a power beyond valve installed in the loader valve. It directs high flow oil to the backhoe valve, then returns to the tank. On dozers, a diverter valve is used as the dozer valve isn’t made for high flow. Dozers have smaller pumps as well. We didn’t like the diverter ...

Re: 1/2” chain & 9/16” pads
The pads would be loose in the first 1.000 feet.
We have extra large hole 450 pads but nothing good in 1/2”.

Re: Engine clutch has oil on it
Sounds like the front seal is leaking on the HLR. Have since this a couple times. Milky HLR oil is common from either condensation or cracked transmission case. Hope it’s the first option.

Re: JD 450B - no vin tag
The biggest factor is the dozer mounting frame having the brackets to accept the backhoe mounting hooks, which are required to mount the factory deere ripper. Not sure I would chance running a ripper without this mounting in place. We have built them or cut them off a wrecked loader attachment. On a...

Re: 450G steering valve
Thanks for your post. Was about to swap steering valves from a wrecked 650G to a 550G with the same symptoms. We will try adjusting the non-offending side first.
