Les, FYI, on some filter housings you use 3 gaskets. Some housings have the bottom bowl, either glass or metal, then the filter. On others there is a clear glass ring between the filter and bottom, thus the need for 3 gaskets

Don't know if this is your problem, but I have a tractor that would not start without jumping the terminals. Always showed 12v to the start term. Finally replaced the wire between the ignition and start term,no more problems.

Jim Anderson. I know what you are saying about the safeties on a bow. I've got one bow that has the big piece that holds against the tree(I don't what you call that) and the top guard, but I've got another one that has nothing on it. Neither of these have been used in years. I even took the 20" bar ...

Bows are nice on logs laying down, but are very dangerous otherwise. Have seen some people with pretty gruesome scars from letting a bow get away from them. On another note I thought that the gov. had outlawed the manufacture of new bows. Does anyone know if this is fact?

If you don't buy an internal resisted 12vcoil or put an external resistor on a 12vcoil you will burn up your points in short order

I did not change the pulley and it has no problem charging. I have done several three wire conversions on 12V farm tractors that the original alternators went bad (big bucks for original), but on this one I needed it running so did it quick and dirty. :D Been on a couple years with no problems. As I...

I put a one wire GM alt. on my 450C best I remember it bolted right up. I keep hearing about having to rev engines way up to start charging. I have mounted several and never had to rev much past idle. So what's the problem, you can't work at idle.

I also built my own cabinet several years ago. I used two sheets of 3/4 in. plywood. Basically a rectangale box with with the top half of the front sloped back at an angle with a piece of plexiglass inserted for viewing. The bottom is basically an inverted pyramid for the media. all of this was coat...

Lavoy,
What I have is a set of completely worn out track chains. I know sometimes dozer are parted out with good tracks or chains. This dozer is on my tree farm and sees 50-75 hours a year, mostly with a timber rake attached.

450-C dozer chains

Hi Guys,
Been a member here for sometime, always enjoyed reading others posts. Now I have a problem. Does anyone know of a place to buy good used dozer chains to fit a 450-C dozer in East Texas on a line east from Houston to Dallas to the Louisiana line?
