Yes, use the JD paint. It is worth every dime. I have painted alot of JD equipment; green, yellow, black, and even red. I have never used a primer with JD paint. Thanks for these ripper pictures. A few questions on that ripper. What is the total width and what is the spacing of the shanks? Does the crawler handle it well or is tough going using a ripper? Thanks to all for the postive comments on my 1010. Thanks for the comments on the six-way blade. I would love to get my hands on a six-way blade for this 1010. Anyone want to sell? Or maybe a whole machine with the six-way blade? I got the bug for this yellow JD equipment.
