Here's a link to it. Not sure how long it'll be up.

440 sold at auction

I'm still in shock at what this dozer brought at an auction today. I didn't see the dozer, only the auction listing and sell price. From pics it was a newer model due to the center throttle in the dash. Had the diesel with power 6 way blade and reverser. Tracks looked shot, grousers were really worn...

That's really impressive work. You've definitely figured out how to get the most out of the Wallenstein.

Re: 440 Track Frame repair

Nice job on everything. Why did you go with the different throttle lever? I had to go through the same re-work with my rock guards, they were in pretty rough shape.
I tried to get my track frames off but they wouldn't budge. Hopefully I'll never need them off.

Re: 440 ICD compatible motors?

I think your only "correct" compatible motor would be to put the gas engine in it. When I say correct, I refer to the proper HP and TQ that the rest of the driveline is designed for.
I think there was a 440 LANZ that I've read about on here that had a Perkins diesel.

Re: Seized track pins

When I rebuilt my, a lot of the links were frozen (dozer had sat for 20 years or so). The pins and bushings weren't new so that probably helped my case, but I pressure washed them some as Lavoy suggested, poured old motor oil on them, diesel fuel, ATF, pretty much whatever I had laying around. I did...

Re: parts needed 440icd

Good luck finding the front pump mount. From reading on here a lot of those and their associated couplers get chewed up and are junk. Lavoy might have a used one on hand. There's usually a fellow on ebay that has a lot of 440 parts "Farmer John". His prices are pretty high though. The filter you're ...

Re: 1010 Radiators

Lavoy, any reason why nobody is reproducing radiators for the "new generation" tractors? None for 1010, we can't ever find any for 2010's. Seems a little odd considering the popularity among collectors for all the new generation 10 series Deeres.

Re: 440icd cold weather starting (part 2)

The buffer screw has a spring that it pushes against inside the governor. If I remember correctly mine was broken. You might pull that screw out and check yours, but if it's running good I'd leave well enough alone.

Sounds like you have something hitting in a cylinder. As stated before, you will bend a push rod if you haven't already.

Re: Early and Late 440 Final Drive Housing Interchangeability

My 440 originally had the early style. I switched everything to the later style and it works perfect. Just don't forget, you need the different sprockets. I think you can broaden your search by looking for early 1010 sprockets.

More than likely worn pump. No factory filters on 440. Could be thick cold hydro oil or the wrong fluid. I doubt it is low on fluid if it was it would jerk as it goes up and down due to getting air.

We have an 8N ford that is used to plow the driveway. A few years ago we went to plow and the tractor would stall when you let the clutch out. Turned out it had gotten enough condensation to freeze the shaft that went through the trans and ran the PTO. We now pull the drain plug once a year to let a...
