If you are referring to the filter that is located in the tank under the right hand arm rest you simply remove the bolts that hold the filter cover and lift it out. There is a drain plug in the bottom of the tank so you can drain the oil first if you are changing the fluid.

Thanks for the reply. It would be nice to be able to use my crawler some through the winter. Do you have the inline heater in the lower radiator hose? I may buy one and give it a try this winter. Do you need starting fluid to get it started when cold?

Thanks for the suggestion, i am leaning toward just putting cylinders and pistons in the old girl. Everything looks good and it ran great so I would rather not do more if it isn't needed. I could not fine the rods on ebay, can you send me the items numbers?

Well my trouble do to my muffler rusting out and water getting into the motor has gotten worse. I got the pistons out of the cylinders after letting them soak with PB Blaster but found out I have a bent #1 rod. I looked on the JD sight and it shows trouble ordering the rod but it does show a replace...
