Well if you are getting fuel and you can hear the solenoid clicking, about the only thing I could suggest before pulling the pump is to unscrew the fuel return line and see if you are getting fuel out of that, as that will verify the pump is pushing fuel into the IP. My method is to score it with a hacksaw, just keep going around and cutting deeper on each pass, then when it breaks through just use a large screwdriver and pry the end off. Only takes 3 minutes or so.
