I've had mine off to put a new seal in it. Found out the shaft was too worn so the new seal still leaked. I was going to take it out again and drive a Speedi-Sleeve on the shaft, but that keeps moving down the TODO list.

What do you want to know about it?

Just about any Deere ag dealer should have one of those sitting on the shelf for about $15. They were used on all kinds of ag tractors in addition to the crawlers for decades.

Neat. I wonder if those were optional equipment or just added on the late end of all the 450 straights? I'd like to see a photo it. I'm having trouble picturing just exactly where that's mounted by your right foot.

A tach? Your machine must be a 450B then?

LOL TJ, you want a tongue lashing from Lavoy dont you? Rule #1 of this board. Lavoy sells parts. Rule #2 other contributors of competing companies do not support this board and will not be listed. Rule #3 Posters listing other said companies may get their posts altered and reminded this is Lavoy's ...

Re: not that much time

I need to replace the throttle cable. stiff as a Harvard neck. You can get the throttle cable here: http://www.midwestcontrol.com That looks a lot like my 450. I paid about the same but didn't get that sweet root rake. I've been looking for a root rake and a fairlead (or arch) for my mine for years.

The clutch pedal controls two things. The first 3/4 of the pedal motion controls the transmission clutch (the adjustment bolt that's right at that access hole, then only the last 1/4 of the motion is for the actual engine clutch. If you're getting no feedback at all in the first part of the motion i...

Re: oil for power steering 350

Is it possible to run 15-40d engine oil in power steering instead of 303,so a small leak won't matter? My 450 has the same problem, but I've never tried using engine oil. The biggest problem would probably be cold weather use since there's a big difference between hydraulic oil and engine oil at -1...

Haha. I've never heard that term before, but I instantly knew what you were referring to. My neighbor has one of those old stick welders. Never realized what it reminded me of until now :)

BAD IDEA! I'm going to agree on that one. Every time I pull my dozer out of the shed after it's been sitting for a while I think "why didn't I bring earplugs?!". For me the squeaking is like nails on a chalk board. It drives me crazy. BUT after an hour or so it either shuts up or I stop noticing it...

Re: Jd 450 parts ect.

I have a 450 and was looking for a throttle push pull cable for a diesel other than the dealer Midwest Control should have the throttle cable for a fraction of Deere's price. http://www.midwestcontrol.com/ I bought mine from Deere, but when I needed to get another one for the winch control, I found...

Re: 450b serial tag

Can someone tell me where the serial tag is on a 450B? I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be under the seat. Like if you're sitting on the seat and put your head between your legs you should be reading it (upside down). Aluminium tag held on with pop rivets though, so if it's gone, don't jump to any ...

I will run the adjustments on the H-L-R and clutch. Even without adjusting the clutch, you can test out the difference that adjustment would make by depressing the foot clutch slightly when shifting. I've got a bad habit of sometimes pushing the foot clutch when I'm stopping to shift. If that pedal...

Re: 70's 450 crawler loader starter

Hello to everyone, I am a new member and I think this forum is awesome and very helpful. I recently had trouble with the starter solonoid on the 450's starter. Through this forum I was able to get my machine out of the woods - thanks, but now I need to replace the solonoid or whole starter. My 450 ...

Re: fan belt help

Don't go overboard with the pry bar, You'll be sorry if you bust one of those cast iron pieces. The disconnect on my 450 is free and even works to disconnect the pump, but I can't get a fan belt around it because that cast piece with the cogs that mates up to the one on the crank won't move forward ...
