Still looking for a bulldozer. It has turned into "mission impossible" as our area had a HUGE flood earlier this month. Said flood did $7,000,000 in damage to the roads in our township alone. The field behind my house filled with water 10' deep at my back bank, was 1/2 mile wide, and was running at ...

This is definately an "ongoing" project. Randomly I get heaping ten wheeler loads of ditching dirt. One time I might get one or two. Another time I might get 24! Today I got about 12! I'm filling a 1/4 acre+ 12' deep so this is a long term project. A heaping full ten wheeler of dirt gains about 2' o...

I hear you. $2500 is the amount of cash I have. I have two friends who will kick in as partners and I'm going to have to sell some of my toys (guns and RC airplanes) to build the cash reserve up a little more. I've been a mechanic all my life and we have a younger son who is cursed with the "mechani...

Most sellers anymore are still horse traders. A hundred years ago, they'd be selling a blind lame horse as a perfect work horse! LOL! Same goes for vehicles, machinery, etc. I've been looking for a dozer for over three years. I've traveled hundreds of miles to look at machines that were listed as "r...

I appreciate and agree 100% with you. It's called "buying a pig in a poke". I actually am not 100% interested in this JD1010 but want to keep it in mind as an "option". I have other JD dozers that I'm looking at. One is a gentleman who is getting old and trying to "minimize" everything before someth...

Lavoy: I understand and agree (to a point) that hiring a contractor is a better choice. But here's the rub: I can't get one to show up any time soon as they are all busy because the weather has been warm and clear = they're making hay (dirt?) while the sun shines. I have two 100' long 4" corrugated ...

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to send the seller a email asking a bunch of questions about the tracks (wear dimensions?), motor (will it run after the starter is changed?), how good are the steering clutches (good or need replacing?), fresh fuel (or do I need to bring some?), and battery (does it ...

How hard is it to change the starter? Is it something that I could accomplish in a few hours or is it a long drawn out process?

Do you know the seller real well and for a long time? Don't know him at all. Please read up on the JD 1010 C and the pros and cons. Can you post the link to that for me. If all it really "needs" is a starte, it is a one of a kind that has obviously been totally rebuilt. LOL! Been there, done that, ...

A good hydraulic cylinder rebuild shop can straighten the rod of a cylinder assembly. Do a search on the internet for "hydraulic cylinder rebuilder" and include your town and state in the search criteria and I'll bet you will find a place that does it. I know because I bent the lift cylinder rod on ...

1968 John Deere 1010 needs starter

I found a "decent" John Deere 1010 dozer with a gas engine that the only thing the seller says is wrong with it is the starter.

What starter does it take and where can I get one at a reasonable price?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

John

Need a Dozer

My town is "giving" me free ten wheeler loads of ditching dirt. The one driver that asks me where I want it dumped went on vacation last week and the two drivers that filled in for him just dumped it on the flat and NOT over the bank! I have 24+ plus loads of dirt that I now have to somehow move ove...
