In general, you do not read anything good about the 550 transmissions
Boy, no kidding. How did they muff this one up so bad? Was it a complete redesign failure?

and is pointing forward by 1/16-1/8". I'm suspecting the link actually bent a little.
Any other ideas?
Can you perhaps grind down the edge of the pin a bit to at least get it started into the hole, then try smacking the hell out of it?

Those are also prone to come on when everything is cold. Then after the machine heats up the light will go out.

Re: Batteries

Price wise, no one can touch Rural King battery prices if you have one near you. They sell a 1100 cranking amp battery for $125. I just priced them last week. Most places want $200 for a battery of that cranking amps. I only have one 1100 cranking amp battery and I manage with no problems on my 450...

Re: Batteries

Well I checked with NAPA, same as my 12 year olds, and they have a 'spend $100, get $25 off' deal on their website, so I suppose I'll give them another shot. As for shock and vibration, these old gals have sure had their share. A few years back we had to defend from a fire, a week long adventure of ...

Re: Batteries

Can you get the same brand and rating batteries as you have now, if you are happy with them? I'd suggest shopping parts stores and equipment dealers in your area to see what you can get. Best regards, Jim Thanks Jim, these are NAPA's currently, but spoke to a friend/mechanic who said they are not l...

Batteries

Where y'all finding the best deals these days? Can't believe I've got 12 years off the set in my 450G. Went to start her yesterday, could tell some of the ooomph was lacking in the colder weather. This pair is individually rated at (up to) 1100 CCA, but imagine I'd be OK with pair of 1000's - maybe....

Re: 450b

Short of removing the tank what’s best way to clean it out ? Had water in contaminated fuel once. Got dozer positioned where angle was correct for fuel to concentrate in the corner below fuel cap, siphoned out all I could. Then, a 12v fuel pump was fashioned with a flexible fuel line and about 2.5'...

Re: Dry steering clutch idea

I Had asked this question a while back and if I remember correct someone had replied that this was not a good idea because it puts pressure on the clutches and weakens them. You could probably search the site and find more info on this question I would think just working them from time to time woul...

Re: Inherited an Early Straight 350

Was given an old Ford water truck with a V-8 planted in it. First time to hit start it bent half the pushrods! Worked the valves with the brass hammer and lot's of penetrating oil, finally got them moving.

Re: 350c thrown track

So when it rains it pours……. I threw the driver side track today. I loosened the jamb nut and took the bolt all the way out and tried pushing the front idler back to loosen the tension but the idler wouldn’t move back. Did I do something wrong? How do you reset the track? Never thrown a track, but ...

Re: 350C Crawler Loader Engine Issue

compression test was 290, 240 ,290 on a cold engine, repeated after putting some oil into the cylinder as suggested by the manual and got 480,290,500. The middle cylinder looks like an issue, but it is above the 264 psi that apparently is when diesel will ignite, It was above 264 when oil was added...
