420 t0 350 track links question
If the pin spacing is the same 420--350 pins but, the OD is larger on the 350 bushings, does that mean you would have to change the sprockets to accommodate the difference? Thanks, gregjo1948

PTO winch worth
Personally, I think if the winch works OK, the brake works and there is plenty of safe cable, $1200.00 is a fair price. I have an 8A PTO winch on my 1010C that will pull the machine out of mud over the tracks at an idle. It will pull more than the dozer can hold. I've skid the machine back with both...

Thanks TIGERHAZE! The manual is to big for me to email and I couldn't remember where I got it. I was going to try to convert it to PFD but, I'm don't think I'm savvy enough with a computer to do it. Greg

JSIMONSON2006-- I have, in a file, a service manual for JD dealers. Testing and servicing fuel injection pumps and nozzles. It is for the Roosa-Master pump that you have and others used with slightly different #'s. It is very detailed on diagnosing, servicing, and rebuilding. I liked it because it h...

You should NOT use starting fluid. This model JD diesel has glow plugs and a primer to assist starting. Starting fluid can easily damage the engine. Good luck, gregjo1948

Reguarding fuel in crankcase: I had a 8V92 Detroit with that problem. Had a dealership mess up a crossover fuel line inside the valve cover causing it to leak and run into the oil pan. I'm not familiar with the 2-53 series, but maybe there's a leak inside your valve cover and every time you crank it...

Check remaining adjustment on tracks. Check spockets for wear( if pointed at the ends--very worn) Feel the bushings on the chains where the spockets ride-- if large flat spots or holes thru--they're shot. Lift the front of tracks with the blade max down-- push&pull sideways on the front idlers (whee...
