Check the radiator ones sooner rather than later. My uncle ended up spending a few hundred getting the radiator in his 1010 re-cored after it shifted back on a bump and the fan ate it. The stock bonded rubber mounts had separated just like your tank ones. I re-designed the lower radiator mounts to b...

I would go with one of the high wattage percolating tank heaters. Put it on a timer to come on a couple hours before you want to fire it up and you won't be wasting electricity. http://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-TN311-Heavy-Grounded-Timer/dp/B005MMSTNG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360566442&sr=8-1 We have...

So is the lever on the left side of the dash the reverser or something else? I didn't see any cooling lines or a cooler attached to the transmission. Only one of the pictures is working for me, I'm not sure why but if you follow the link to the pictures they show right up. I've got rear view and bot...

Took some pictures today. I'm not sure if it has a reverser, the lever to the left of the dash has a linkage that goes to a shaft in the side of the front of the trans housing right where the front edge of the footwell plate is. The clutch pedal goes up to what looks like the release lever on the be...

The 440 is in southern NH, and scrap usually moves through the yard in about a week. If anything is wanted off it, I can take a pic and pull it off, but the time frame is fairly short. Sure, with a milling machine and a lathe anything can be made to fit, but I was hoping there would be enough carryo...

440 Diesel Crawler-Loader being scrapped

A loader just came into one of the local junkyards that has a pretty quick turnover. It's missing the hydraulic pump on the front and the rear hydraulic tank/seat/valve assembly. Everything else appears to be there. The tracks are in poor shape, but it is a 4 roller bottom with rock guards, though t...

You can buy parts to rebuild the starter from an auto-electric shop. I got an armature and bendix after ours cooked. Lot cheaper than getting the whole starter.

The 805 uses brackets that replace the bucket so the bucket cylinders do their normal curl/dump thing, then there's a couple options for where you pin the blade to the brackets to set where the blade rolls dirt to, left or right or straight. Then there's a pivot on the left side of the blade and the...

Blade tilt converting from wedge-lock to hydraulic cylinder

We've got a 805 blade attachment for the 1010 loader we have that replaces the bucket. I know using a loader as a dozer is inadvisable, but we have the blade and it would be handy if not precise. The tilt for the blade is set by a wedge you hammer in to lock a curved dovetail in position. I have a 6...

Find someone with a 50amp or bigger plasma cutter and it will make the job massively easier and the end result will look a lot cleaner. I'd make a block you can slide the plasma torch along to keep the cut straight and an even depth on each pad. Chunk of 2x6 ripped down to the width you need should ...

That makes it a 1960-61 machine like ours. I will look tomorrow and list off where the gear positions are. If you can get the reverser shift lever on the housing in the forward position and lock it there with some baling wire you can at least use the machine because the manual transmission has a rev...

The lever on the left of the dash is the hydraulic reverser. There shouldn't be much resistance to that moving, it just moves a valve. Same thing with the foot pedal on the left, that's the clutch pedal for the hydro reverser. It just moves a valve so it should move easily by hand. Pedal on the righ...
