Lavoy, Greg Larson from Esko said he might stop out and check out my machine. He has 4 1010's out in the field but didn't seam too motivated to sell just a single track. He said swaping to a 350 track/sprocket didnt sound like too much fun either. Any opinions on what would happen if I keep driving ...

I spent the better part of 8 hours over a weekend trying to get mine loose. I have the kind that you spin the adjuster, and the jam nut is suppose to stay tight onto that.

Now I have a set of oxy/acet torches and I can really heat things up.

Good luck next time!

Oh great, i was hoping you would tell it could be fixed with ductape and bubblegum. If i continue to run the machine, what else would be ruined besides the already ruined track and sprocket? Lavoy, how much are you asking for the other track and sprocket? Is it an easy swap out or are there any chan...

1010 track wear

I skidded logs out of the swamp this winter and put 100~ hours on the machine... sure is a handy machine! The lumber will be used for our winery building in the future. My problem now is the track one one side is wore out. The previous owner said something about welding half pieces of pipe to the bo...

Gil, you were right. After playing with the carb a bit, I ended up on the electrical side for a few hours... Found out the points were way off, maybe the set screw popped loose. Anyways, replaced the points, condensor, cap, rotor, and it runs like brand new! I put about 5 hours on the machine today,...

Thanks!

Thanks for all the information! The dozer is 30~ miles away at our future winery/home site, and there is no power and lights there. I try to gather as much information as I can before I drive out there in the dark at night with my lantern and fix things. Thanks for the sugggestions, does anyone know...

John Deere 1010 carb issues.

Howdy... my 1010 dozer started dogging down and barely running.. now it wont even run. I noticed that after turning it over even 2 times, gas pours out of the intake side of the carb. Would this be the float being stuck possibly? It ran sooo good the first 8 hours I used the machine, now I have abou...

Now all I have to do is put it all back together! And it's snowing. Dangit! A week of downtime on the dozer and then it snows and rains for 3 days. I'd like the meet the past owner that put the adjusters back together without a lick of grease on the threads, inside or out. I'd like to shake his hand...

Took 8 hours of banging on it to find out that it needed to come out of the track system... then 5 hours of heating/banging and turning and spraying to get it apart. I had to split the 2 1/8th jam nut. Found a replacement nut for $3 at a local nut/bolt store. Folks, we have a usable track adjuster. ...

The parts book shows this system also... do I try to order the entire part from Mother Deere? The few times I called the local store they sounded like I was bothering them and I had to pull teeth just to talk about an old machine like this. Part number 25, 27, 28 are what I am talking about. http://...

Howdy. I got pics to host now. My problem is the tensioner is stuck one one side, and striped on the other. After it 8 hours of use on the machine, the track finally fell off. It sounds like most of you have hydraulic tensioner's and not the kind with the threaded rod and nut. Any advice on what to ...
